Chapter 168: Unfulfilled Kiss
Howl's heart pounded in his chest, a wild rhythm that echoed the anticipation coursing through his veins. His eyes, wide and unblinking, were locked onto Atasha's face as it drew closer.
The distance between them was rapidly shrinking, their lips almost touching. His lips parted slightly, cupped in her hands, was a silent invitation for the kiss he was eagerly awaiting.
Atasha, however, had other plans. Instead of meeting his lips with hers, she swayed her head and rested it on his broad shoulder.
And just like that, the soft sound of her snores filled the forest floor, replacing the charged pitter-patter of rain that had been there moments ago.
"What the— A-Atasha?" Howl's jaw dropped. No response.
Instead of the passionate kiss he had been expecting, he was met with the rhythmic breathing of a sleeping woman. The serene sound of her slumber was a stark contrast to the storm of emotions raging within him.
