Night arrived quickly and when Laleen was about to doze off from sleep, her phone rang. With a disturbed frown, her hands searched for the phone and she unlocked it before answering.
"Hello," she whispered with a voice thick with sleep.
"Hi. You're asleep aren't you?" Came Elizabeth's voice from the other end of the line.
Laleen's eyes widened in recognition and her sleep instantly disappeared.
"I'm so sorry for waking you" Elizabeth quickly added before Laleen could speak, sounding very apologetic.
"Oh, that was nothing. I wasn't that sleepy though" Laleen was quick to assure her best friend.
Pausing for a moment, she finally asked while feeling something was wrong.
"What's up, Beth?"
Elizabeth gave a long sigh from her end of the line as she hugged her pillow.
"I just couldn't sleep, that's all. I'm sorry for disturbing you"
Laleen rolled her eyes as she smiled. "You're never a disturbance, Beth. What happened?"
