What was Linda expecting Hazel to do when Edgar was now married? Had Linda told her that she started to have feelings for Edgar again then Hazel would have tried once more to get the two together. 

Hazel couldn't help what she didn't know about. Linda was placing her in a difficult position over something that she thought had long gone away.

Hazel already told Alessandra that wanted to get closer to her and she had mentioned this to their husbands. To go back on her word now because of Linda's old crush would be childish. Even more childish because Alessandra wasn't aware of what was happening.

By now, Alessandra would have to know that there were many lining up to marry her husband and it is not her fault that she was the one Edgar chose. Linda could not get angry with the duchess and try to be mean to her.
