บท 3: The lab 2

Ever since Jack was a young boy, he'd been captivated by the world of technology. It wasn't just a passing interest; it was a burning passion that filled his heart. The allure of gadgets, gizmos, and digital innovations had always held a special place in his life. His earliest memories were of disassembling his toys just to understand how they worked, much to his parents' bemusement.

Jack had harbored a dream from his childhood, one that had been nurtured by his fascination with technology. He yearned to invent something that would bring a positive change to humanity, to leave a lasting mark on the world. He wanted to push the boundaries of what was possible, to create innovations that would better people's lives.

However, as he grew older, life led him down a different path. The weight of expectations from his parents and society at large had pressed upon him, pushing him away from his dreams. It was a path he never truly felt passionate about – a career in accounting, a field where he could never let his technological inclinations truly shine.

As Jack stepped through the door, his emotions were a tumultuous mix of eagerness and excitement. However, he kept his feelings well-concealed behind a stoic facade. Slowly, he made his way through the door, leaving behind the nightmarish scene he had just witnessed and entering a world of possibilities.

The room he entered was unlike anything he'd ever encountered. It was vast, immense in scale, and filled with technological marvels that left him in awe. The walls were adorned with screens, each displaying a different set of information, while a massive keyboard-like panel stretched out before him, covered in an array of advanced keys.

Jack couldn't help but marvel at the level of technology that surrounded him. It was incredibly advanced, far beyond anything he had encountered in his previous life. As he looked around, he couldn't help but think about the impact this technology could have on the world if it were ever made accessible to humanity. The possibilities seemed endless, but they also raised a burning question in his mind: "Why is such advanced technology here, in this place?"

While Jack was lost in thought, he noticed something on the other side of the room that captured his attention. It was an area that appeared to be a small room encased in glass. However, the glass had been shattered, and the room within was in disarray. Shards of glass were scattered about, mingling with signs of a gruesome struggle, including bloodstains and human body parts.

Jack's mind raced with questions. What had transpired in this room? Was it connected to the horrifying scene outside? Why had all these people been killed, and by whom?

Intrigued and perturbed by the mysteries that enveloped him, Jack decided to approach the advanced keyboard-like system. Upon closer inspection, he noticed something unusual—a lifeless hand resting on the keyboard, as though someone had been pressing keys just before death claimed them. The hand had a lifeless pallor, and the body it belonged to lay nearby, bearing a fatal wound to the chest.

Jack gently removed the hand from the keyboard, and it was at that moment that the large screen in front of him came to life, displaying a file. He quickly deduced that this was a file containing valuable information, perhaps an answer to the questions that had been haunting him since he woke up in this nightmare.

With a sense of urgency, Jack touched the screen, and a notification appeared, requesting a handprint to open the file. His mind raced as he contemplated how to bypass this security measure. He needed to access the file to unravel the mystery of this place and find a way out.

Then, a daring idea struck him. He still held the dried corpse's hand that he had removed from the keyboard. Astonishingly, the absence of disgust and the strange familiarity of the situation didn't deter him. He carefully placed the dead hand on the keyboard, which immediately scanned it and glowed green, indicating recognition. Jack had successfully unlocked the file, and a play button appeared on the screen.

With a deep breath, he pressed play, and the video began.

"Tape one: Hi there, if you don't know who I am, then let me introduce myself. My name is John Dan, I am the head scientist of the Umbrella Foundation, and today is the first day of the experiment," John's voice echoed from the video, as he stood in a room that looked eerily similar to the one Jack was in. "As you can see behind me," John continued, gesturing to the scientists in lab coats preparing for the experiment, "I won't be revealing any restricted, important information about the experiment in this video because my higher-ups consider the information about the experiment classified. But I will give you a brief explanation about the experiment."

Jack listened intently as John elaborated on the experiment and the goal to find a way to win a war without losing more lives. As he watched, a feeling of unease settled in his chest. This video held the potential to unveil the secrets of this place, and Jack was determined to unravel them, no matter how unsettling they might be.

The video ended abruptly, leaving Jack with more questions than answers. He proceeded to the next video, and his anticipation grew. However, what he saw in this video was truly unsettling. John, who had been alive in the previous video, now lay lifeless besides the keyboard, his expression one of profound distress.

The mystery deepened. Jack was on the brink of discovering something monumental, but the true nature of the experiment and the fate of these scientists remained elusive. He steeled himself and proceeded to the next video in search of answers that would shed light on his situation and the horrors he had encountered in this enigmatic place.
