บท 50: Chapter 50

Are you kidding... Argh..."

The burly man's smile quickly turned into a wail of agony. The surrounding Magi were equally shocked, as if they had witnessed the unbelievable. Before their very eyes, the man's belly began to swell alarmingly.

Recalling Leylin's warning earlier, Lancey felt both fearful and relieved that she hadn't touched the Brownstone Singer as she'd initially intended.

Seeing the man's frantic retreat into his tent, where he consumed various medicinal items and drank frantically, smiles appeared on the faces of everyone present. To these Magi, the effects of the Brownstone Singer were more of a practical joke than something to fear.

"Due to the topography of the Grand Canyon Margaret, it has become a haven for exotic creatures. Legends say that it still harbors species believed to be extinct or endangered..." Leylin mused silently, his gaze predatory as he looked at his travel companions.

As time passed, the ashen rocky forest surrounding Leylin and the others gradually gave way to a barren landscape of fragmented stones.

"The Limestone Wasteland. We've already entered the standard route. In the next ten days or so, we'll have an easier journey. But following that will be the daunting Golden Desert, where Kary Vultures gather. Everyone should conserve their energy and prepare for the upcoming battle..." the elderly leader proclaimed, his voice unwavering.

The Golden Desert held their next challenge, which would require them to confront the abominable Kary Vultures to proceed safely.

As the team entered the Limestone Wasteland, Leylin noticed the Seated Lupin Wolves' muscles and fur relax. The energy concentration in the air had diminished, making it difficult for magicians to use their spells effectively.

Leylin pondered, "The energy concentration in the air here is significantly reduced. Casting spells here would be less powerful and require more energy compared to casting outside this area. Living beings staying here for an extended period might undergo mutations. Magicians would loathe such regions."

However, the Limestone Wasteland offered respite to travelers, as the reduced energy concentration deterred ambushes by exotic creatures.

The tranquil journey continued for fifteen days, with Leylin's party finally on the brink of exiting the Limestone Wasteland and entering the Golden Desert.

The night before their transition, the elderly leader, Lancey, and the six Magi held a discussion. Leylin's group was not included in the plans due to their perceived insignificance.

The leader brought up the challenge they would face in the Golden Desert. A supply point was infested with Kary Vultures, and the team needed to decide whether to expel them or eliminate them, as they had agreed before.

In the end, they resolved to kill the Vulture King. The materials and rewards that came with such an achievement were lucrative, and the Kary Vultures had disrupted cargo transport in the Grand Canyon Margaret for far too long.

Magi perpetually lacked resources, and this presented an opportunity to accumulate more. The old geezer's prior mention was meant to confirm the final decision.

The division of roles was fair, and every magician had a task that suited their abilities. Leylin was assigned a role supporting the attackers. The leader showcased his unique flying magic skills, which involved manipulating wind element energy particles.

While the other Magi expressed their support, Leylin remained silent, reserving his expertise.

The next day, the sun's rays, dazzling and intense, greeted them as they left the Limestone Wasteland for the Golden Desert. Leylin observed the scorching environment ahead.

The Golden Desert, where they had now arrived, was a vast expanse of sand dunes. The team would soon face the Kary Vultures and their leader, the Vulture King.

As they gazed out at the sea of golden sand, the elderly leader addressed the team, his expression a mix of uncertainty and determination. They were on the cusp of their next perilous journey.

"To conquer the Grand Canyon Margaret, we must confront the Kary Vultures obstructing our path," the leader declared. "The third supply point has been taken over by these abominable creatures. We must decide today whether we will merely expel them or eliminate their leader, the Vulture King."

The consensus was to eliminate the Vulture King, a decision motivated by the substantial rewards they stood to gain. With the Kary Vultures no longer interfering, trade through the canyon could resume unhindered.

In preparation for the battle, the leader assigned roles to the Magi. Leylin remained quiet about his own abilities, though he anticipated using his magical artifact, the 'Bright Silver,' to create wings like the old geezer's.

As the meeting concluded and the sun blazed overhead, Leylin rode his Seated Lupin Wolf, which had enjoyed a night's rest. The environment had grown increasingly hot after the earlier rain.

Leylin peered through the desert's ashy haze, anticipating the challenges of the Golden Desert.
