After nearly three days of traveling by car, Gu Fan and his party were more fatigued than they'd ever been on any journey before. Finally, they arrived in another city. It was once the foreign nation of the Great Night Country, but now it was a modern city. It had also been renamed and was now known as New Night City.

The Great Night Country was annihilated after undergoing internal strife and foreign invasions. Its people were displaced, with its city structures collapsing under the harsh weather over the years. Coupled with demolition for reconstruction, most of the ancient buildings were not preserved, except for a still-standing imperial palace.
