As soon as Cassie and Rona arrived in front of her condo. Cassie frowned when she saw men in suits.
"What the hell is happening?" Rona asked. "Don't tell me the President is here?" she joked.
After work, Cassie and Rona decided to check and get her condo cleaned. But why are many men in suits from the entrance to the second floor?
She was confused, and suddenly she felt her heart thump fast as she had a terrible hunch about it. She walked toward her unit.
"What the—what are you doing? How did you open—" She came to a halt when the man standing on the left side of the door talked.
"Mr. Moretti is waiting for you, Miss Morgan."
Cassie clenched her fist and was about to talk when Rona rushed inside.
"Where the fuck is that gate crasher?! I will kill him. Who gave you permission?!"
A man in a suit appeared before Rona, making her stop walking. The man then gazed at Cassie and said, "Mr. Moretti is waiting for you."
Cassie strode inside her condo. "Moretti?" she mumbled and drew the man's attention. Who's calmly sitting on the couch, his back facing her and legs crossed.
Cassie frowned and moved to the other side of the living room. She squinted her eyes when she locked her gaze on the man.
She would be mesmerized by his looks if this was a different situation. She had never seen someone with fair, clear skin, a sharp nose, and a perfect kissable lip. She can tell that this man is way more handsome than Theo.
Damn! Why is she comparing him to Theo? This man is insane as he dared to trespass on her property.
She regained her senses when she saw a smirk forming on the man's lips. "It was nice to see you, Cassie Morgan," he said, wearing a cold and stern voice.
If Theo is scary, this one is more terrifying. Staring at him intimidated her, and she thought she'd be doomed with one wrong word.
"Sit down, Cassie, and let us talk," he said, making Cassie arched her brow.
"Who are you? Why are you inside my house? Can't you point out that this is a private property, Mister?"
"The name is Blake Moretti, Miss Morgan."
"What do you really want, Mr. Moretti?" she asked, acting bravely.
The man leaned backward as he rested his arms on the armrest of the couch. "I will not beat around the bush. I want you two to stay away from Theodore Smith."
Cassie gasped in surprise, and her heart thumped fast. She could even feel the coldness of her palm.
Rona, who walked near Cassie, scoffed. "Who the hell are you? If you have a problem with that, Smith, why bother approaching Cici?" she asked.
However, the man's eyes only fixed on Cassie.
"I don't want Theo to get distracted by helping useless people like you. Prior to the accident, I already warned him to stay away from you, yet he still pursued you."
Cassie scoffed. "With all due respect, Mr. Moretti. Please don't assume that it's my fault that Theo got into the accident. You can't just blame me and tell me what I need to do," she said, trying to remain calm as possible.
The man let out a devilish chuckle. "And you have the guts to talk back?"
Cassie smiled and tried her best not to feel scared at the moment. "Whoever you are, I am not your puppet."
"I'll triple Theo's offer. You can claim it and leave him."
Cassie let out a sarcastic laugh. "I don't need your money. And didn't you know that Theo and I are not on good terms? And now, you're telling this to me? Why don't you investigate first, Mr. Moretti, before putting the blame on someone else?"
Blake Moretti arched his brow. "For a stupid human being like you dared to tell me what to do? This is me talking as his friend—"
"Friend? Do you like Theodore?" It was too late for Cassie to take back her words.
Blake pierced his gaze on Cassie as he stood up, hands inside the pockets of his pants. He never breaks his killer gaze on Cassie until a little distance is left between her and him.
"How dare you question my gender role? You, an idiot and selfish woman, dared to throw those shits on me?"
Cassie took a step backward.
Now, the man is scarier than she thought. Chills run down her spine.
"Moretti!"
Cassie's eyes widened, and her heart skipped a beat. She stood up and faced the man immediately. She saw Theo standing at their door.
"What the fuck are you doing?" he asked as he walked closer and stopped near Cassie.
Blake chuckled. "Smith, I am doing what is best for you—"
"Best? By threatening them?! We already talked about this!" Theo's anger is so deep that one wrong move from his best friend will explode.
"Don't make me force you to stay away from—"
"We don't have any relationship. What had happened to me two years ago is by accident. I was fucking drunk. And Camila is the fruit. It is our fault. My daughter is innocent. Now, stop whatever you are planning, Moretti." Theo clenched his right fist. "I don't like Cassie—we don't have a fucking relationship!"
Blake's forehead creased as he squinted his eyes toward him. "So, you're telling me that I am wrong? I knew everything!"
"Instead of watching and threatening my life, why don't you push my tasks or just do it by yourself!"
Cassie's eyes widened, and suddenly, she pulled Rona away from them. She saw how Theo nodded at her as if telling her she did the right thing.
"Talk outside," Cassie suddenly said, making Theo frown, but he turned to Blake afterward.
"Leave, Moretti. Let's discuss this matter."
Blake smiled. "Stop this nonsense, Theo. Don't make me force you to leave this useless woman."
Hearing this, Cassie's heart seems pierced with a dagger, shattering into pieces.
Cassie raised her head and met Theo's gaze. "I will leave the mansion—"
"No! Camila needs you—"
"Stop this nonsense, Theo! Besides, let her know that in a few days, you'll get engaged."
Cassie was frozen into place at this moment upon hearing about Theo's engagement. She realized that the feeling she had had a few days previously was not simply for the word LIKE, but she had unknowingly fallen in love with Theo.
But the word ENGAGE wrecked her on the inside.
She looked into Theo's eyes and waited for his response, but minutes passed, and she could only hear her rapid breathing.
"Get out!" she yelled.
"Invite her to your engagement—"
"Shut up!" Cassie and Theo said in unison.
Blake laughed sinisterly. "You should have known, Smith, that falling in love with the weak is not in your nature. Think twice before I make my way that will fucking hurt you," he said. After that, he left.
