Once they exited the Eastern wing, they went to the Western wing. Just like the Northern wing, the Western wing also had an entrance and exit point that led outside the courtyard. After exiting the outside, one either comes down a few wooden stairs or continues on the roofed walkway that leads directly to the lotus pond. If one wasn't rushing, it would take at least a 5-minute stroll to get there.
As they walked in silence, Glory's mind was on everything that had happened in this place that she could recall. All her memories were good ones, and the lotus pond was her favorite place to go. She would run along this very walkway until she got to the end of it, where there was an open space with chairs and a table. The end of the walkway ended with a circular patio on the lotus pond. All Glory had to do was stand by the wooden railings and watch as her nanny helped her gather the lotus seeds while sailing on a small canoe.
