ตอน 95: SHIELD and ISRO

"Wait! Wasn't he dead!?"

The whole world was shocked as Vikram Sarabhai, the supposedly dead former Vice-Chairman of India's atomic bomb project, was suddenly nominated for the president.

In the parliament, Satyankar looked confused.

"Who said he was?"

"Literally you said that!"

"That was a different Vikram Sarabhai. Who was the Vice Chairman at that time. This guy, and that guy, are completely different."

Everyone could tell that it was a lie.

"So, was Homi J. Bhabha that was killed in the plane blast was also not the Homi J. Bhabha that we know?"

"No. It was Homi J. Bhabha that everyone knows."

And that was of course a lie. Bhabha has decided to remain underground until a thorium reactor is built.

Moraji Desai stood up and shouted, "Cut the bullshit and stop keeping secrets from the parliament! Make things transpa-"

Speaker cut him off. "No shouting in Parliament unless you are giving a speech. Drink water, calm down, and then ask."

Moraji Desai is the worst PM India ever had in the original timeline. He is a traitor, who despite RA&W having realized that Pakistan was building the Nuclear Bomb, and was ready to destroy the project, informed about it to Pakistan. An retard that should have been hanged to death.

India always suffers due to traitors.

"Keep everything transparent. If you keep keeping away things from Parliament, we will impeach you! You dictator!"

Satyankar sighed.

"Desai ji, so you suggest, that the Parliament is capable of keeping secrets? Are you capable of keeping secrets?"

"Why keep things secret altogether?"

"Look, are you a scientist?"

"No."

"Are you aware of the composition of an atom?"

"No. But that doesn't mean that I don't have the right to know."

"You have the right. But, probably 10 or 20 years later, when sensitive documents that are no longer deemed too sensitive are released.

If you don't keep things like atomic research intensely secretive, every country will be able to get a bomb. Because in theory, the general structure of a nuclear bomb, is very easy. What's hard is, how to make it. And we can't let those things out in the open.

And regarding the dictatorial thing that you mentioned, for our scientists and people to be safe and secure, I don't care what you call me.

Anyway, Vikram ji will be appearing in Rajya Sabha tomorrow as an appointed MP. BJS Party, and I personally, endorse him for the highest seat in India.

I don't know if you have read the documents released by the PMO last night, so I will just tell this in the Parliament.

First of all, IIA, i.e., Indian Intelligence Agency, will be split into three parts.

IIA will be the agency that will work outside India.

Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement and Logistics Division, SHIELD, will work inside the country, to deal with security of our country, like monitoring foreign funding, protection of our scientists and engineers, dealing with spies, brainwashing camps, etc.

And National Investigation Agency, NIA, will exclusively deal with terrorism.

And again, how do these agencies work, what do these agencies find, who are the agents, all will remain as secretive as possible. As time goes on, as the security threat is reduced, the secret documents will be made public. And Desai ji, even if you want to go on hunger strike, these things will not change.

National security is above everything else. Throughout history, everyone has wanted a piece of India. Even now, as we have become the third nuclear power in the world, and within 5 years, will surpass UK's GDP, everyone will try to delay our progress, through any means necessary. Whether it be bribing politicians, assassinating important people, or even blowing up planes.

Can we just move on from these repetitive debates?"

Desai, and many people were pissed. Very much. They wanted to know what was happening in the country. They felt powerless, as they felt during British rule.

"I am boycotting the Parliament! And I will go on a hunger strike until you stop being so secretive!"

"Yes! We are also doing it!"

About 20 MPs stood up and started leaving.

"You seem to be still stuck in the mindset that you are fighting the British. But what you are fighting against now is our own people's safety and security. It is not Satyagrah you are doing, it is called emotional blackmail.

I am just warning you. I will not try to convince you even once to stop your strike. Your life is not worth more than the lives of 400 million citizens of our country."

As the 21 MPs walked out of the Parliament, others were thinking that the Lok Sabha session will end now. It was already running one hour overtime.

But Satyankar did something that will piss off more people.

"Another document that was released by PMO yesterday was about the foundation of Indian Space Research Organisation, ISRO. The budget will be discussed in the budget session two weeks from now on that was delayed due to War Emergency."

"Space Research!? What, do you want to go live on Moon!? Focus on Earth!"

Many MPs started making a ruckus, and Principal Mam, aka Speaker, suspended all of them for the day and cut their pay of 15 days.

"We need cold water to cool down the heads."

She made a remark, and glared at the MPs who refused to leave. And her glare worked.

"Ahem! I wasn't finished stating the main points of the document.

Space research doesn't just mean going to moon. Moon isn't inhabitable anyway because of not having atmosphere and gravitational acceleration being a sixth of what it is in on earth. It will be impossible to remain outside of space suits or gravity simulators.

As we know, we have not started any research on missiles yet. Missiles, and rockets capable of going into space are connected. Getting better in one will lead to betterment in the other field at some capacity.

And, the main things that space research will provide us will be national unity, electronics revolution, and influencing to speed up the electronic industry that will make upto 30-40% of our manufacturing. Which means employment to atleast 10-20% of our working population.

People aren't machines. They need motivation to do something. Innovation doesn't come without motivation and interest.

And, it's not like this organisation will take even 1% of our budget.

India can't just rely on agriculture and textiles. We have more than 400 million people, which may even pass the 1 billion mark. We need each and every ethical industry to flourish. Just feeding 400 million people is possible, if the food is just for not starving to death. For a full thaali of nutritious food, three times a day, a good home, free healthcare and education, and even vacations for tourism across the country, we need money. A lot of it.

We want our people to live freely and happily. Not just live.

Living doesn't mean just not dying."

Satyankar hoped that this will not irk the people. He even promised to keep the budget less than 1% of the expenditure. But...

"We don't need it!"
