I felt a knot tighten in my stomach as Matt's words echoed in my mind."I know you're hiding it from Sofia and I don't think it's a good idea," he whispered. Guilt gnawed at me, twisting my insides as we stepped out together.
"So, Mencia, right?" I attempted to divert the conversation, but Matt's smirk betrayed his thoughts. His nervous scratch at the back of his head hinted at his unease. "Well, she seems interesting, but trust me, you're the first girl I would love and would never stop loving," he assured me with a smile, but his eyes held a flicker of doubt.
As we neared Juan's car, we observed him stepping out to open the front passenger seat for me. His eyes locked with mine, a soft smile gracing his lips, sending my heart into a flurry. "Go catch up with your guy," Matt whispered in my ear as I approached. Unaware, I felt Sofia gently nudging me aside as she swiftly settled into the front seat beside Juan.
