"Damon, can we just drop this argument, please?" I didn't want to talk about it anymore.

"You can't have any contact with Jones. That's my bottom line. Don't you get it?" Damon looked stern, a hint of a crack appearing in his icy demeanor. He was clearly pissed.

This situation had caused a small rift in our previously growing closeness.

The atmosphere in the living room was tense. I stood there while Damon sat on the sofa, neither of us breaking the silence.

After a while, I couldn't stand there any longer. I didn't even say a word to Damon. I turned around to leave. But Damon was quick; he grabbed me before I could make it to the door.

He asked me angrily, "Are you pissed off? Going out to dinner alone with other men and being so stubborn?"

"Damon, stop talking nonsense, okay?" I was really annoyed. "Do you even know how critical the situation was for Scarlett? Was I supposed to watch her jump off the roof?"
