It's been three weeks since Vincent, became my vessel and the death of John.
Vincent, was my type of guy to hang aurond and provide company with, he was funny, a bit sarcastic at times, he knew how to relate to people, and he was one hell of a trumpet player.
I was sitting at the dinner table reading over some documents, as Vincent was playing with a Rubik's Cube, trying to solve it and his wife Eva, was preparing food in the kitchen.
"So, Isaiel I got a question tell me how does it feel to be a old man all the time? As, he finished fiddling with the Cube, and was he knew what he doing.
I let out a sigh of exasperation from my mouth, and put my hand to my forehead in annoyance, trying to not smote my vessel out of existence for his questions.
"For the last time Vincent, just because I am 13 billion- years- old by human standards, who has seen the formation of both reality and the multiverse, doesn't qualify me as a old man."
Recalling that this was the sixth time that Vincent has asked me a question like this, I began to stand up as the fireplace roared to life like a raging furnace, as I walked up to his face.
"And for your information Vincent griffith, I am older than this toddler planet you call home in a universe that's barely out of it's diapers."
"I watched this planet being formed from nothing, and I can watch this planet be razed back into the nothingness." The entire room smelled like burnt ash, as my eyes were like two supernovae exploding and reforming.
"Alright the both of you settle down Vince, you should know better than to antagonize an angel, especially the one who cured me of my curse." The sound of Eva's voice, was like a ray of sunshine on your face, warm and kind like no other person.
Eva was an attractive young black woman, with creamy brown chocolate-colored eyes, and long curly black hair, with a scent of rich soil and a mountain terrain, and she was wearing a black leather jacket and pants.
Eva, began passing out the plates of food, as I calmed myself down and returned to my seat, I knew better than to let him provoke me and show my anger in such a dangerous way.
"Well, tonight's meal is Diri ak Pwa, it's a Haitian dish of rice and beans, I hope you guys like it." She started to pick up her spoon and dig into the rice when Vincent stopped her.
"Hold on, shouldn't we say Grace for the food first? Isaiel, you won't mind praying to bless the food right? His eyes full of mischief, as he looked at me expectantly to start.
I covered my face with my hands, as my face felt hot with embarrassment, every prayer was heard and regulated by either Ariel or one of the members in her team, especially prayers made by an angel.
And, I knew that if Father heard me, he would tease and embarrass me for the next millenia or two.
"With an reluctant sigh, I prayed for the food and made a blessing for the family in Enochian.
In my mind, I was thinking of ways to get back at Vincent for this eternal embarrassment that he orchestrated.
The dinner was fun, we all talked about random topics, and I managed to get back at Vincent for the prayer, I was surprised as this was the first "family" dinner were I felt like a was apart of an actual family.
The next day, me and Vincent teleported to India, to find Pestilence, to ask him questions about the reappearance of the Croatan virus.
Vincent, was walking down the street, while holding a Samosa, and sampling other food from food vendors and asking me questions.
"So, I get the fact that we are here to find Pestilence, but can you tell me more about him and why he is so important? Sitting down at a bench near a park.
"Well, you know that P is apart of the four horsemen, well my relationship with them is sorta complicated with each of them." As, I took control of his body to have a bite of the Samosa.
"P, is an interesting character as I'm friends with him as I'm one of the few people that are interesting to him, he's mostly nice and polite as long you don't make him mad by insulting his work or speaking bad about his brothers."
"The only issue I have with him, is when he goes on his episodes once every few decades making me clean up the mess." As, I finished the samosa and switched back with Vincent.
"Episodes? What do you mean is it something bad? Vincent began to watch as the children played in the park, as his curiosity was piqued about the horsemen.
"Humans call it an epidemic, I call it episodes, because it usually happens randomly and makes him release more than 50% of his powers, just think of the worst pandemic or epidemic outbreaks those were most likely one of Pestilence's episodes."
"Just think 10 years from now, the year 2019, when Pestilence has one of his episodes and reduces humanity to complete social isolation for four years, then you will understand my annoyance." Hiding a little smirk as I know that Vincent will cuss me out in 10 years, for telling him about Covid.
"The next horsemen War, is the second oldest next to Death, and he is pretty cool when he is not busy influencing human behavior in war, he likes reading books and watching combat movies about war.
"Famine, is the only horsemen that I hate with a passion, that gluttonous fat pig is just disgusting when he uses his power, and then demands more food for him to eat all the damn time." I growled in anger as I rembered the last Famine that Famine took apart in.
"Death, on the other hand is my favorite out of the four and I do mean literal Death, not metaphorically, or rhetorically, poetically, or theoretically, no he's Death straight up." I stood up as my voice carried pride and respect, for the horsemen of Death.
"Damn, you sound like you respect Death alot, maybe the two of us can become quick friends." As he began to walk away from the park, and to the location were Pestilence resided.
"That probably won't happen, Death is kinda indifferent to humans and probably won't notice you presence when you take control."
We arrived at Pestilence's current location, it was a small hospital near a river, and the inside of the hospital was infested with swarms of flies, with numerous corpses of dead doctors and patients, sprawled across the floor due to dying of the bird flu outbreak.
"Ugh, that smell is horrid and atrocious, what the hell happened to this hospital to produce so many flies? Vincent, was picking up the scent of Pestilence's newest experiment, and was covering his nose due to his heightened senses.
"That dear Vince, is the calling card of our friend Pestilence, sorry for the smell I forget you have highlighted senses due to me being in your body." Do you want me to remove your sense of smell temporary, so you can breathe? I knew that humans never have a good time whenever Pestilence was aurond.
Vincent gave me the OK, and I removed his sense of smell, and I took control of his body as I walked in the hallway, as I closed the dead victims eyes and wished them peace in whatever afterlife they went to.
I teleported outside the door to the director's office, when I opened the door and saw Pestilence, sitting in a chair with two demons standing side by side of him.
"Well, if it isn't my favorite angel Isaiel, what brings you out all the way here to my latest research lab?
Well, to be frank I had many reasons to come see you and now I only have one, but before we get to that question, what the hell are you doing in India?
"Can't you see what I'm doing? I'm continuing my tests on how people will react to this new project of mine, I call it H5N1.
"H5N1? I questioned as one of my eyebrows were raised, having serious deja vu flashbacks from the Spanish flu.
"Yes, you see I infect wild birds like ducks or chickens for example, and then I spread the them aurond and when humans interact with them such as, touching or eating them, they will become infected and spread to others."
"You see, the first time I did this in Hong Kong, I managed to kill aurond 24 humans with my dosage, but now I'm going to try again here and hopefully gain better results." As, flies were coming out of Pestilence form and continue to buzz around.
"You know what I'm not going to deal with this tell me P, how did a strand of Croatan from your vault get into a demon's hand and is now spreading in Oregon? I crossed my arms, feeling anoyed by the mess that I will need to clean later.
"Oh that's easy, you see I lent Azazel one of my vials filled with Croatan, after I lost in a game of cards with him, the guy has an amazing poker face for a demon." Pestilence was adjusting his tie and was looking at his ring to notice my face darkened.
"Pestilence, I don't think you have noticed but, that viral contain one of the most
dangerous virus known to man and you lent it to a demon, a prince of hell, no less." My face, began to boil as I was getting tired of Pestilence's BS.
I snapped my fingers and exorcize the two demons near Pestilence, and then got next to his ear and Whispered this.
"The next time that I hear you do something like this, I wouldn't give you a warning, I will just grab you and put you in a coffin, and then bury you so deep that you will be holding the Earth with your coffin." Am I understood? I didn't wait for Pestilence's reply as I teleported to River Grove, Oregon.
When I got there, all I saw was countless rabid-infected humans wandering the streets, waiting to attack and infect their next victim who came near.
"These were once people who had families, hopes, commitments, and dreams. But, none of that mattered anymore as their were reduce to primitive, savage, murderous creatures with no thought or reason." I thought about how this was an exact recreation, of what happened the first time.
"Oh my God, sorry for saying that but how could something like this happen? Do, you think you can save them from this virus? Vincent, was looking at a small infected girl, who was busy eating her Mother, with a horrified expression on out face.
"I can't stop this, I have already tried the last time this happened in the Roanoke Colony, and all that could be produced was failure."
"At, first I tried to use my grace to purify the virus in their system, but that didn't work only leaving charred bodies as if they had been smited." Vincent was listening to me attentively, about my attempts to cure the Croatan virus.
"When that failed, I tried to use small doses of my grace, to see how the virus would react and to see if I could make a cure."
"Regrettably that test was a failure, as while it cured the infection, it only worked for a short amount of time before they reverted back to being infected with the virus."
"When I tried the same test with an increase dosage, the subject was cured but the problem was a shorten lifespan of two days, after those two days passed, the subject died due to total body failure of all of their organs."
As tears wetted my face as I knew what I had to do, and Vincent looking at my face with concern.
"Pestilence, made this virus with one goal in mind: to infect everything and leave no chance of a cure."
"And it worked because there is no cure, just putting them out of their misery." As I began to walk towards the mass of infected to give them one final act of mercy.
Vincent, didn't say anything as he knew that this was probably our only option, and he knew that I didn't want to kill all of these innocent people.
I sighed as I closed my eyes, when they were opened they were glowing with radiance ad power, I outstretched my hand and watched as white light consumed the body of the townspeople.
And, for the second time with an outbreak of Croatan virus, I listened to the screams of the people as they were taken out of their misery until none remained.
Vincent tried to comfort me, but I blocked him with our shared link, and teleported home as I relinquish control to Vince, as I made a hidden space in his mind to be alone with my thoughts.
