บท 402: Chapter 402: Another Student

In the studio's rest area, Martin sat in a chair, quietly observing the performances of others. Soon, Saoirse Ronan, carrying a small digital camera, stealthily approached and settled beside him.

The two of them couldn't converse until the director called for action. Saoirse picked up her camera and snapped a couple of shots of the set.

Martin inquired, "Are you allowed to take photos?"

Saoirse quickly replied, "I spoke with David. He's quite pleasant and easier to talk to than you." She blurted out her honest thoughts but couldn't retract them, so she simply continued, "David gave me permission to take photos as long as I don't disrupt the crew's work, but the pictures must not be leaked."

Martin gave her a playful look, saying, "The gods are unfair."

Saoirse comprehended, "Being cute gets you preferential treatment, like Emma Watson."

"Stop, stop!" Martin cringed at the name, as if he could smell something unpleasant in the air. "Can we please not mention Miss Know It All?"

Saoirse seemed to be seeking approval, "I'm good at keeping secrets. I haven't told anyone about this."

Martin cautioned, "If she finds out you did it, you'll be in countless troubles in the future. Remember, you don't need recognition to do good deeds."

"I understand." Saoirse suddenly rose and gave Martin a graceful salute. "I always learn a lot from talking to you."

Just like Elle Fanning, these girls who entered the entertainment industry at a young age tend to mature quickly due to their exposure. Saoirse was intelligent and, following her previous words, she asked earnestly, "Martin, can you be my mentor?"

Martin studied Saoirse for a moment, thinking of certain people and experiences. "I once had a female student."

Saoirse playfully flipped the ponytail hanging down her back and inquired, "Do you know who it is?"

Martin waved his hand, saying, "That's not necessary."

Saoirse asserted, "I hope to be mentored by someone handsome, mature, wise, and honorable, so I can have a better development."

Martin glanced at Bruce and nonchalantly commented, "I can teach you photography."

Saoirse was slightly puzzled but recognized that building a relationship with Martin was not easy. The interaction they'd had at Pinewood Studios must have played a role, so she quickly replied, "I've always wanted to find a photography teacher."

Martin casually said, not paying much attention to it, "I'll let you know when I have time what the true essence of photography is."

Saoirse's agent called out, "Saoirse, get ready for your scene."

"You go ahead, teacher," Saoirse Ronan hurriedly headed to the set.

Bruce stepped forward and whispered, "This girl sure knows how to sweet-talk. Besides being a troublemaker, she can strike up conversations with anyone on set. David Fincher had nothing but praise for her." Martin found Bruce's description oddly familiar and inquired, "I can't help but feel like you're describing someone I know."

Bruce simply stated, "You!"

Martin suddenly realized, "No wonder." Bruce added, "Your last student was Angelina Jolie, right?"

Martin nodded, "I'd say I taught her quite well."

Bruce had a confession, "You taught me well too... in a different way."

At this point, the crew began filming, and Martin and Bruce ceased their conversation.

As a young girl, Saoirse portrayed Daisy, moving gracefully through the nursing home like a butterfly.

After the scene was shot, Bruce commented, "Despite her strong curiosity, she's quite clever, judging by the diaper incident."

Martin chuckled, "A charming girl of fourteen or fifteen can put on quite a show. Being my student requires more than just a little cleverness."

Contemplating the situation, Martin began to wonder, "Since Saoirse is part of the cast, she must know that I'm the lead actor. Did she genuinely pass by us that noon and happen upon our location?"

Bruce chimed in, "We're not exactly inconspicuous, and we can strike up a conversation if we cross paths." As the assistant director approached, Martin grabbed his crutches, signaling the need to focus on the upcoming scene.

As they entered the set, Saoirse Ronan stepped in to assist him, addressing him as "Teacher." Martin listened intently as the assistant director explained the scene, and they rehearsed Saoirse's movements a couple more times before filming commenced.

After shooting several consecutive scenes, the studio door swung open, and Cate Blanchett, the real leading lady of the crew, walked in.

She appeared quite serious, her already stern face devoid of any expression.

David Fincher inwardly sighed, as Shia LaBeouf's situation had just stabilized, and now another unpredictable element had arrived, which was causing him some concern.

However, the actors he had handpicked would continue performing even if faced with the greatest challenges.

Worried about potential disruptions, David Fincher left his director's chair and approached Cate Blanchett, saying, "Hello, Cate, you're here."

Blanchett greeted Fincher with a smile, saying, "When can I schedule my scene? I'm ready to work anytime."

David Fincher replied, "I have a plan in mind, and I'll let you know when it's time."

Blanchett, recalling her agent's advice, added, "David, rest assured, I'll focus all my energy on my work."

David Fincher felt a sense of relief; it was easier when one side was willing to cooperate.

"Looking forward to your splendid performance," he nodded slightly.

Returning to his director's chair, David Fincher gave the order, and filming resumed.

Cate Blanchett stood at the edge, watching Martin's performance alongside the unknown actor, striving to keep her composure.

The young actor displayed remarkable energy and promising acting skills.

While observing, Cate Blanchett suddenly had a sense of déjà vu. The other actor looked strangely familiar, as if she had encountered him at Pinewood Studios.

It hit her that, before venturing into the pine forest with Christian Bale, she had noticed a young girl wandering along the roadside. She believed this was the same girl.

That pine forest!

Cate Blanchett pressed her hand against her chest, as if trying to suppress her thoughts, and silently whispered to herself, "Don't dwell on the pine forest, don't think about the pine forest."

After shooting a few more scenes, David Fincher called for a brief break.

Martin and Saoirse exited the set together.

Saoirse quickly spottedCate Blanchett and discreetly informed Martin, "Teacher, Cate Blanchett, the one we worked with at Pinewood Studios, is here."

Martin gripped his crutch, raising an eyebrow.

Saoirse lowered her voice further, "I'm certain. It was you, me, and Leonardo who set off that firework together. We seriously injured Christian Bale and Cate Blanchett. Please, Teacher, would you like me to keep an eye on her and take pictures if she's seen with someone else?"

Martin inquired, "Is this something you often do?"

"No, just random pictures for fun," Saoirse replied earnestly. "But last time at Pinewood Studios, someone took photos and videos of the diaper incident, and they sold them to Fleet Street tabloids for a hefty sum, tens of thousands of pounds."

She clapped her hands emphatically, saying, "If I can capture those kinds of photos of Cate Blanchett, it would not only help you deal with her but also earn some money to buy gifts for you, Teacher."

They returned to the rest area, where Martin settled into a chair. Suddenly, Saoirse snatched the water bottle from Bruce's hand and offered it to Martin, saying, "Teacher, have some water."

After Martin had taken a sip, she inquired once more, "Is my idea feasible?"

Martin, handing the bottle back to Bruce, remarked, "You're quite the self-starter now."

"No, no, mostly due to others' inspiration," Saoirse reminisced about Pinewood Studios and the Diaper Gate, her eyes widening, and her words stumbling out like a mosquito's buzz. She said, "When I met you and Old Boo, you were driving a battery car from the Harry Potter set. Unbelievable..."

Martin, of course, would not give a direct response. He replied, "I recall Leonardo and you mentioning that knowing too much can get you silenced."

Saoirse widened her eyes, shut her mouth, leaned back, and attempted to distance herself from Martin, but they were still sitting in the same row. She was unwilling to move away.

Martin added, "As long as you have fun, it's fine, just don't cause any trouble. You're just a child star."

Saoirse listened intently, nodding repeatedly.

Bruce chimed in, "Someone's coming."

Martin and Saoirse willingly dropped the topic and turned to look in the same direction.

In the dimly lit studio, a black cloth floated in like a ghost.

Despite her youth, Saoirse, supported by Martin and Bruce, grabbed the nearby crutch and wielded it as if she were battling a phantom.

A voice from within the black cloth exclaimed, "Don't hit! Don't hit, it's me, Shia!"

Seeing Martin nod, Saoirse gestured with her cane towards the black cloth and sat back.

Shia LaBeouf removed the disheveled cloth from his head, dismounted the scooter concealed by black fabric, and addressed Saoirse, "You appear to be a cute little girl, but your movements are unsettling."

Martin interjected to halt his chatter, "Do you have something to say?"

Shia LaBeouf inquired, "Will this impress Jack Nicholson?"

Martin waved his hand, saying, "It's too different."

Shia LaBeouf, deflated like a balloon, suddenly stopped, "I'll think of another approach."

He stood up and departed, saying, "This doesn't seem quite normal. I'll consider a more conventional method."

Once everyone else had moved away, Saoirse asked, "Is he planning another performance art piece?"

Martin shook his head, "Don't worry about him; just view it as entertainment."

Saoirse didn't quite comprehend, but her curiosity led her to enjoy the spectacle, "I may not have many roles, but I've negotiated with the crew to stay a few more days after filming so I can observe and learn."

Martin wouldn't interfere with others' choices, "That's up to you."

As the day's shoot neared its conclusion, Cate Blanchett departed first. Her agent, Helda Quilli, awaited her outside the studio.

"How did it go?" Quilli inquired.

Cate Blanchett replied, "Martin has been busy shooting, and we haven't had a chance to talk privately. We'll wait until he's done."

Quilli reiterated the importance of the matter, "These incidents may appear to be the work of Jack Nicholson, but I've conducted thorough research. Nicholson is semi-retired and has no direct conflicts with you or Bell. The real source of conflict and the one closest to Nicholson is Martin Davis."

She emphasized, "Martin's status has been on the rise. He's also a native American and has strong ties with the Coca-Cola Group. We can't beat him. Cate, taking the initiative to make amends would be greatly beneficial. The pros outweigh the cons."
