As the crackling fire provided warmth and comfort, the sound of soft steps interrupted the quiet of the night. Ingrid glanced up, her attention drawn to the figure of Christine standing at the door.
"Your Highness, I will be leaving now. Please do not stay up too late reading," Christine said, her voice gentle yet firm as she held the door knob, ready to depart.
Ingrid smiled warmly. "Thank you, Christine. I will sleep soon," she replied softly.
With a final nod, Christine opened the door and stepped out, closing it behind her with a soft click. Ingrid watched the door for a moment, the quiet of the room enveloping her once more.
