บท 127: New Pills

Inside Resonance City's Grand Alchemist Workshop…

"HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! We finally did it!!"

Isaac and Carl jumped and hugged each other in elation after finishing the task assigned to them by Blanc.

The two of them were part of the first five alchemists of Resonance City along with Albert, Marie, and Charles but unfortunately, their skills were a little inferior compared to the three so they decided not to join the Master Alchemist Examination this year.

Still, they weren't behind by that much and when compared with the young apprentices of the grandmasters, they were probably on par with them or even better than them.

As proof of their skill, Blanc trusted the two just as much as he trusted Albert, Marie, and Charles so the research project which involved the lake water inside the Forest of Echoes was assigned to the two of them.

After more than a year of continuous research, not only were they able to confirm the effects of the lake water through various experiments, but they also managed to create pills that would be beneficial to the warriors of Resonance City.

*KNOCK* *KNOCK*

Isaac and Carl's celebration was interrupted by a knock on the door of their laboratory. The two looked at each other and smiled excitedly as Carl walked towards the door and opened it.

Blanc smiled at the two of them, he heard them celebrating even before he knocked so he already had an idea about what happened, and the elated looks on their faces confirmed everything.

"Isaac, Carl, I heard the two of you celebrating so the task is complete I presume?"

Isaac and Carl's smiles became even wider after hearing Blanc's words, Carl then stepped forward and said

"Reporting to the City Lord! Yes, we've not only managed to determine the lake water's effects but we also managed to create two kinds of pills."

Blanc's heart started beating faster after hearing Carl's report.

He would already be happy after the two of them successfully determine the lake water's effects but who would've thought that they would be able to develop new kinds of pills as well?

However, Blanc didn't celebrate yet, he had to confirm the pills' effects first before celebrating.

"Great job you two! Let's go to the meeting room and talk about the pills' effects."

Blanc took the lead as the three of them walked toward the Grand Alchemist Workshop's meeting room to talk privately about the effects of the new pills.

They locked the door of the room before Blanc allowed Isaac and Carl to talk about the effects of the pill.

After making sure that no one would be able to hear them, Isaac started to talk about the effects of the pill that he developed.

"I would like to call the pill that I created the "Berserker Pill". As the name suggests, the pill temporarily puts the person who consumed it into a frenzy-like state."

"Their physique and focus would be enhanced to its peak but the effects last for only fifteen minutes and once the fifteen minutes were up, they would fall unconscious."

"I used some death row prisoners as a test subject and confirmed that the user will only fall unconscious after fifteen minutes but there were no detrimental side effects to their health."

Blanc smiled after hearing the effects of the berserker pill.

Although it wouldn't be applicable to use it in all scenarios, the berserker pill might save an entire battalion of trapped soldiers when used as a last resort.

For example, if an entire infantry battalion was cornered by the enemy, they could consume the berserker pill for a chance to break through.

Although they would be incapacitated after escaping from an encirclement, it was way better than being wiped out.

"An amazing pill! Thank you for your contributions to the city, Isaac!"

"My pleasure, City Lord Blanc!"

After Isaac, it was Carl's turn to report the effects of the pill that he developed. He took out the pill from its container and a strong pungent smell covered the entire meeting room.

Carl, Isaac, and Blanc couldn't help but pinch their noses due to the strong smell.

"Apologies for the smell, City Lord Blanc. I would like to call this the "Booster pill" because as its name suggests it temporarily boosts one's physique by two tiers."

"However, the effects only last for seven minutes but the good thing is, there is no side effect at all aside from the soldiers feeling a little tired after using the pill."

"The level of tiredness that they will feel after consuming the pill isn't that intense either so they could probably use this pill two times in a single day of combat before exhausting all of their stamina."

"In addition to this, I've confirmed that there are no permanent detrimental side effects to those who use it as long as they limit the usage to two pills a day whenever they need it."

Blanc was even more ecstatic after hearing the effects of Carl's pill. Although it wasn't as potent as Isaac's pill, it could be used in many different combat scenarios.

For example, the infantry can use the pill to break a stalemate against the enemy army's infantry or the cavalry can feed the pill to their horses and themselves at the same time to inflict maximum destruction during a charge.

Although the unit who used it needed to rest for a bit after the effects, it could no doubt help them break the balance or even turn the tides of a battle.

One of the downsides though is...the bad smell. It might be a bit too hard for the soldiers to consume the pill.

Still, these were two very handy pills that would catch the opponents off guard. In a life-or-death scenario, who would care about a little putrid smell?

Blanc thanked Isaac and Carl for their contributions to the city and gave them monetary rewards as compensation for their hard work.

Isaac and Carl smiled happily after the meeting with their City Lord Blanc and due to the monetary rewards, they couldn't help but look forward to their future wherein they would live in a luxurious house, living a luxurious lifestyle with their own families.
