It has been three days since Blanc left the new pill recipe in the hands of the alchemists.
He was both anxious and excited. If the alchemists can create the pill, he can create a new unique squadron.
Blanc wanted to pester the alchemists for the results but he knew that it might have a negative effect so he could only wait for the alchemists to visit him in his office.
In the meantime, he is working on his other town project.
Blanc plans to establish an academy for the town residents.
The academy shall offer basic, intermediate, and advanced courses.
The basic courses shall offer basic reading, writing, and basic mathematics while the intermediate courses will offer intermediate mathematics, business writing, and speech.
Lastly, the advanced courses shall offer alchemy, craftsmanship, business management, and accounting.
With this, the children will have more job options in the future.
Most of the children are helping out on the farms not because they want to, but because they have no other choice.
The academy will open up more options for the children and they won't be stuck as farmers anymore if they don't want to.
Blanc made his way towards the construction team.
"Kirk? Can someone call Kirk for me? Thanks."
"Oh? Mayor! Is this about the academy?"
"Yes. How many months do you think it would take before you can finish building an academy this big?"
"Hmmm…I cannot say for sure. An academy of this size is even bigger than the one at Lockridge City. This would take at least seven to eight months to complete even if we work twelve hours a day."
"I see, but don't work twelve hours a day. Ten hours per day should be enough. I shall give you and the others a huge bonus if you can finish this academy in eight months."
"Ohh! Thank you, mayor! Leave this to us. We shall start right away!"
"Thanks Kirk!"
Blanc was happy after hearing Kirk's positive response. The town was currently not lacking in money since Adelaine was doing a good job of earning money for the town.
Giving a little bonus to speed things up is not a problem at all for Blanc. Not to mention, he wants to give all his citizens a nice life so why would he be stingy in terms of rewards?
Blanc likes to prepare things beforehand so he went towards the smithy next.
He talked to Doran and ordered two hundred units of heavy iron tower shields.
If his plan regarding the troll's heart pill succeeded, then preparing in advance would let him establish the unique unit quickly.
After walking around under direct sunlight, Blanc was tired. He went back to his office to cool himself down and rest for a bit.
Unfortunately for him, after he went inside his cool and comfortable office, Albert, the head of the alchemists, was there waiting for him.
"Mayor! We succeeded! Your theoretical recipe is astonishing! I can't believe you can make 90% accurate theoretical recipes without having high-level alchemy skills yourself! I am truly fascinated by your talent sir!"
Albert was practically jumping up and down in happiness as he reported their success to Blanc.
Blanc was their teacher, although they had already far surpassed him in terms of alchemy techniques, his theories were on a whole different level.
They have to bury themselves in books in order to catch up and that's why they look up to Blanc. Not only is he doing town management work, he even dabbles in alchemy and craftsmanship!
Albert wasn't the only one happy. After hearing that his new pill recipe was a success, Blanc himself was very happy.
He can finally create a shielder elite unit!
Having an immovable heavy shielder unit that specializes in heavy tower shields and long spears is a huge boon to a defending army.
In the near future, they would likely be defending their territory from invaders more than they would attack other territories.
This heavy infantry squadron shall win a lot of wars for him once established.
Blanc forgot about resting and followed Albert to the alchemist workshop.
After seeing the pill, he tried one.
Although the pill doesn't have instant effects, the body's ability to regenerate will slowly develop after taking the pill once every three days.
The body shall reach a peak recovery rate after consuming the pills continuously for 6 months.
This is good enough for Blanc.
They have seven troll hearts which will be more than enough to establish a whole unit of heavy infantry.
The only thing they had to do now was wait.
Independent settler caravans are currently flooding in from different villages hoping to live in their town.
After a few months, their population should have grown exponentially, and establishing this shielder squadron will no longer be a problem.
Blanc still had one last thing to do today.
He headed towards the training fields to meet Helena.
After a bit of walking, he finally reached the training fields.
Blanc took a deep breath before approaching Helena.
He doesn't know Helena's mental condition right now so he couldn't help but be a bit nervous.
"Helena!"
"Hmm? Blanc?"
"How are you feeling?"
"I'm alright now, thanks for letting me cry my heart out privately."
"No worries, I know that such a matter can only be resolved by yourself so I just gave you space."
"Thanks, Blanc. What did you come here for by the way? Do you have something important to tell me? Or did you just miss me?"
Blanc smiled after hearing what Helena said. She's now able to crack a few jokes. It seems that she finally recovered even if just a bit.
"Hmm…Both? I have something important to tell you but I did miss you too."
"Ohh! You silly! Come give me a hug!"
Helena hugged Blanc in broad daylight in front of the training warriors so Blanc was a bit embarrassed.
"Ehem! Alright, that's enough. I've come to discuss creating a new unique squadron with you."
"Hmm? A new unique squadron?"
"Yes, the squadron shall specialize in tower shields and long spears. We've successfully developed a pill that will slowly give the regeneration abilities of a troll to a person."
"After consuming the pills once every three days for six months, the person will fully obtain the troll's regeneration abilities."
"If we pair that ability with a heavy infantry who specializes in shields and spears, we'll have an elite unit that is comparable to an immovable fortress inside the battlefield."
Helena was visibly excited upon hearing the characteristics of the new unit.
"I'd love that! Leave the creation of the unit to me! I'll be the one choosing the appropriate members of the units from the new settlers that will join our town."
"Thanks, Helena. Oh! And one more thing, we need to start hiding our troops inside the Forest of Echoes soon. We just won our first battle and we are bound to get more and more attention as time goes by."
"Some spies will probably mix in with the new settlers. We shall make the Forest of Echoes a restricted zone. This will help us hide the growing numbers of our army."
Blanc patiently explained.
"I got it! Leave this matter to me. We'll start transferring the main operations of our training fields inside the Forest of Echoes."
Blanc had to start his preparations early. Soon, he believes that there will be spies inside the town.
Although they will try their best to identify and expel them from the town, there will still be one or two experienced spies who will escape their clutches.
Blanc could only hope that by developing hidden forces, the enemies would underestimate them and send a manageable number of soldiers when invading their town.
