In the evening, Ricky Lewis went downstairs to the dining hall to buy food, and Jaylene, who could not bear it any longer, fell asleep by her mother's hospital bed, holding Nancy Scott's hand.

Ricky Lewis returned with three meals he had bought from the dining hall and saw Jaylene exhausted, asleep by the bed.

He smiled bitterly, she must be tired; she hadn't slept all afternoon and had been accompanying him.

Placing the food containers on the bedside table, he slowly squatted down, his finger lifting the strands of hair that had fallen on her cheek, carefully tucking them behind her ear.

Nancy Scott woke up from her sleep, turned her head, and saw Ricky Lewis squatting next to Jaylene, gently tucking her hair behind her ear. Her expression slightly surprised, she quietly turned her face away, her face already containing a smile.
