บท 108: Chapter 109 : Reporting Safety!!

Germain had just woken up and was feeling quite tired. It would be wise for him to rest for a while.

However, he needed to update the "StageCoach Group" about his safety.

After the doctor left, Germain asked Knuckle to help him find his cell phone. Luckily, it wasn't damaged. He noticed a lot of missed calls and unread messages during his time offline.

He typed a brief message and sent it to the "Stage Coach Group":

"I'm fine. Three days ago, I encountered Feitan and Franklin from the Phantom Troupe. I took care of them and am now recovering in a safe place."

Germain's brief message was like cold water on a hot pan, causing a flurry of activity in the "Stage Coach Group."

Bisky kept sending "?", filling the entire screen.

In between, Wing, Shizuku, and Sanbica tried to reply, but Bisky's constant "?" spam made their messages flash by quickly and hard to read.

Three seconds later, just as Germain was about to put his phone down, Bisky called.

Noticing that Germain was about to take a call, Shoot politely stood up, took Knuckle with him, and said to Germain, "We'll be in the corridor outside," before leaving the ward.

Now, Germain was alone in the ward, with only the beeping of equipment, the hum of the fan, and the phone ringing in the background.

"What's up?" Germain answered the phone.

"You're asking me what happened?!" Bisky's voice came through, surprised and worried. "Didn't you go to the World Tree? How did you suddenly run into the Phantom Troupe?"

"It was an accident." Germain then explained everything to Bisky in detail.

"So that's what happened," Bisky said, her voice gradually calming down. "You're unlucky. The Six Continents is so vast that you can't run into them anywhere."

"It's actually pretty normal," Germain disagreed. "They've been looking for me, and I haven't been hiding on purpose. It was only a matter of time before they found me."

Bisky was silent for a moment before speaking. "To be honest, I was also careless."

"Shizuku and I have been busy with 'inventory' lately. Wing also asked me to help watch over a child named Zushi. After that, I need to contact the construction team to build a lab for Sanbica…"

"You caused quite a stir at the World Tree. If you go to the professional hunter website, you should find some information."

"I thought you were just 'habitually missing,' so I didn't check the professional hunter website…"

Sometimes, Germain seems like a hassle. After two trips to the Dark Continent, he'd just disappear, leaving all the follow-up work to Bisky and Shizuku without a care.

Bisky and Shizuku had gotten used to his disappearances. The longest they've gone without contact is over a month, and then he'd reappear on his own.

So, they didn't think much of the three-day gap this time and just tried to reach out to him occasionally.

Unexpectedly, something happened to Germain this time.

Hearing the self-blame in Bisky's tone, Germain tried to comfort her: "It's not your fault. This is a grudge between me and the Phantom Troupe. It'll be resolved eventually."

"It's not just your problem now," Bisky replied quietly. There was some conversation on the other end of the phone. She paused and told Germain, "Shizuku has something to tell you."

"Okay, let her speak."

"Germain." After a while, Shizuku's voice came through, "The Phantom Troupe is investigating me. They're probably trying to find out where you are through me."

She didn't ask about Germain's injury. Since Germain had said "it's okay," she took it as a sign that he was fine. She got straight to the point and discussed the matter at hand.

"Then you have to be careful," Germain said. He thought for a moment and added, "You frequently come into contact with Meteor City. They might track you down through Pakunoda's Nen ability.'"

"Yeah, Bisky mentioned the same thing," Shizuku replied. It turned out Shizuku had already discussed this with Bisky. "So, I plan to cut off direct contact with Meteor City."

"'Cut off direct contact'?" Germain asked, understanding the implication. "I get it. You want to find a 'middleman' to handle the support for the orphans from Meteor City?"

"Exactly."

"That doesn't sound practical," Germain said, hesitating but still offering a warning. "The Phantom Troupe might widen their investigation. If that person is contacted by Pakunoda, they'll be exposed."

"So, I won't meet the 'middleman' in person. Everything will be handled online."

Germain disagreed again. "But the Phantom Troupe could force the 'middleman' to contact you voluntarily, which could lead you into a trap."

"Probably not," Shizuku said calmly. "I chose someone they can't easily control."

"Who?"

"Sheila," Shizuku answered unexpectedly. "She was a childhood friend of most Phantom Troupe members, but they went separate ways."

"I know her. She often donates to Meteor City, and I've interacted with her for that reason. She should be trustworthy."

"Of course, if I sense anything wrong, I'll cut off contact immediately. If I get caught despite that, I won't give Pakunoda a chance to 'explore my memory.'"

Shizuku spoke about cutting off contact as if it were as casual as taking a walk after dinner. She didn't really care about how long she could live.

Germain frowned. He knew Sheila and felt her choice was neither particularly good nor bad.

Sheila is a mysterious figure. She connects the 'tragic death of Sarasa,' 'the gathering of the Phantom Troupe,' 'the massacre of the Kurta tribe,' and 'Kurapika's revenge.'

She's an essential figure in these events.

However, Sheila seems to be a good person. If she had malicious intentions, she wouldn't have distanced herself from Chrollo, Uvogin, and others at that time.

But as always, Germain believed in judging people based on personal contact and understanding, rather than just from stories.

As for Shizuku, since she had such a "realization," Germain did not stop her anymore.

After hanging up the phone, Germain used the "Hunter Badge" to display the results of the recent intense battle.

Feitan was killed by Germain, which was to be expected.

As for Franklin, although he was eventually killed by Feitan's "Rising Sun," it was due to the severe injury Germain inflicted when he chopped off Franklin's broken arm and the resulting heavy bleeding. Therefore, Germain was credited with the "contribution."

Germain absorbed all the "experience" from both Feitan and Franklin.

His Physique increased to 53 points, and his Endurance went up to 57 points. Although his Physique lagged a bit, it still crossed the "Master Limit" along with Endurance.

This improvement gave him the foundation to become a "master" as long as he continued to practice hard and live up to his talent.

At the same time, Germain's "pressure" from the "killing penalty" only increased by 2 points.

This might be because his "physique" has surpassed the 50-point limit, giving him some immunity to all "boosting abilities or events."

Germain refers to this as the "Master's Aura."

Finally, he received a new "Gift of Resentment" – the "Threaded Cane," a handheld weapon that can transform into two stages, similar to a Cleaver.
