Maya Mitchell nodded in agreement.

It seemed that in Steve Burton's mind, all the cover-ups she did for Ruby were justified.

She had thought that she might be able to use that incident to gain a favorable impression in his heart, which could change their interactions with one another.

She tried so hard to get close to him. Yet, even though they met every day, there was always an insurmountable barrier between them.

Maya's expression faltered slightly, as she gritted her teeth and tried to force a casual smile at Steve. She steadied her voice and, using an easy-going tone, replied: "Yes."

Maya took a deep breath and made an effort to maintain a smile on her face: "If Mr. Burton has no further queries, I will take my leave."
