Lydia Shire's fingertips turned white as she gripped her cup tightly.
Her gaze on Amelia Cobb was filled with murderous intent.
Amelia remained unaffected. She never denied that Lydia was smart, with a clear goal in her sights. Whether it was abroad or at home, Lydia's skills put her ahead of most within the social scene.
But— Lydia was not her equal.
If she couldn't handle someone like Lydia, then what had she been doing all these years?
"Miss Shire, if I were you, I wouldn't waste time on others. Instead, I'd be asking for money. Be careful not to lose more than you can gain, causing everything you've worked for to become nothing," Amelia warned.
Mid-conversation, Lucas Atkins entered with his phone in hand, showing Amelia a piece of news. She nodded and waved him off, "Please see Miss Shire out."
Before Lydia could even get into her car after leaving Amelia's office, she received a call from her secretary.
"Miss Shire, Director Benjamin declared bankruptcy."
