Helen slowly regained consciousness, unsure how much time had passed.
Upon waking, she found her eyes covered with a light-blocking blindfold and her hands and feet tied with rope. Her hands were tied behind her, the rope biting painfully into her skin. Her mouth was tightly sealed with tape, the wound on her arm throbbed like an open fire, and there was a lingering pain at the back of her head-- a clear sign that the person who hit her had not held back.
There was a pressing silence around her, and the faint tremble under her indicated that she was in something on wheels. The faint sound of a running engine reached her ears, and Helen concluded that she was in a car.
