Oliver Hoffman's excitement quickly vanished.
The two sat down at a table and ordered their meals. Helen Blair, wanting to show her sincerity, even ordered a 1982 Lafite.
However, during the entire meal, Helen didn't engage him in much conversation. Oliver, having a bit of a young master's temperament, couldn't stand being ignored multiple times and, therefore, also remained silent.
The only sounds between them were the clink of their cutlery and Helen thanking him with a toast.
Occasionally, Oliver would look up at her face, dimly lit by candlelight. The shadows cast by the flickering light softened her features, but couldn't conceal the coldness in her expression.
With the festive atmosphere waning, the meal came to a swift end.
Oliver drove Helen back to her residence.
