บท 68: APOLOGIES I

As I struggled to open my heavy eyelids, I heard Isabel's voice exclaim, "Mum, her eyes moved!" I attempted once more, but the brightness of the room forced me to shut my eyes halfway.

"Please call the doctor, she is awake," mum's voice filled the room with relief and urgency.

As I slowly opened my eyes, they adjusted to the brightness, revealing Isabel's curious gaze fixed upon me. Beside her stood Mum, her eyes red from crying. My gaze travelled around the room, I saw Lily, Alex, Jude, and Mabel—the person who nearly took my life for the second time. Anger surged within me at the sight of her which prompted me to divert my focus elsewhere.

Then, I noticed two unfamiliar faces, a man and a woman probably in their late thirties. The woman tightly held the man's hand, indicating a deep bond, maybe they where a couple.

"Where am I?" I managed to whisper weakly.

"You are in the hospital," came a reply.
