บท 32: COMBAT CLASS; TEACHER LAGERTHA

"Huh? Wha—" Stare asked, feeling a little stunned. But then, he found the slightly sticky liquid no longer smeared on his burnt palms. He couldn't also find the wounds from the burns anymore. There weren't any traces or scars; it was just as though the injuries didn't even exist in the first place.

Although Stare was impressed, he wasn't too shocked. He had, after all, lived in an era where humanity had focused entirely on magic. Although that era had been completely forgotten now, even then, there were magical potions capable of doing the same. So he wasn't too shocked that the advanced technology of this era had also reached such a level.

Emma just gave a satisfied smile and then went to attend to Bobby's injuries as well.

After she was done with him, she turned to address the rest of the students who had all been staring at her with emotions ranging from anger, regret, fear, and even depression.

"I know most of you hoped on getting the Main Hero Status and are currently feeling down."

"Well, while I can't say the Supporting Hero Status is as cool as the other, I think I can affirm that the Supporting Hero Status is not as bad as people make it seem… it has its perks as well."

As Emma spoke on, the expression on a number of students livened a bit as they concentrated their attention on her.

This development wasn't quite far-fetched, as even the likes of Stare was wholly focused on her. There just seemed to be something about her that compelled people to be attracted to what she said or did.

Stare himself wasn't even sure of what it was that attracted him so much to her. Maybe it was that smile that had been on her face ever since, or the calm and kind aura around her.

"While we might not get enough recognition from the general public, just getting recognition from the one they give their recognition is enough."

"... While the Main Heroes are responsible for protecting the general public, we are responsible for protecting the Main Heroes, so it's only proper that our recognition actually comes from who we majorly protect.

"There's a reason why the so-called useless Supporting Status still exists till now… it's simply because there won't be a successful Main Hero without a Supporting Hero somewhere.

"... Plus, we don't get to majorly bear the responsibility of numerous individuals with numerous problems but just one, probably dumb super brother or friend or teacher."

By the time Emma was done speaking, the majority of students there no longer considered their new status as a curse or at least they no longer considered it too much of a bad curse.

On the good side, at least they got to be taught by an extremely pretty kind-looking lady rather than an egotistic, hot-tempered dude with the tendency of suddenly causing an explosion at any time.

After calming the majority of the students, Emma had also led them through the door with the tag 'Supporting Heroes.'

Just like the Hero Theoretical Knowledge classroom, the place was completely made up of pristine white walls. Except in place of the exquisite-looking hovering student's desk were many pieces of equipment, which Stare wasn't too sure what they were for.

Aside from the occasional glances of hostility or awe Stare got from a few students, or the consistent expression of scorn on Bobby's face, the class had gone on normally from there.

They hadn't done anything exactly Fief-related in today's class and had just done general class introductions.

Emma had explained that this was because it was the first day of class, plus it was important that everyone knew themselves in the class.

The class that had been meant to last for three hours had soon come to an end. The majority of the time allocated for the class had been spent on the Fief Status Issuing, so the class duration was a lot shorter than usual.

For some reason, Stare felt extremely relieved after the class had come to an end.

He had initially planned on keeping a low profile while getting to talk to the incarnation of Y-204, but so far, all he seemed to have done was attract a lot of attention to himself, and the reason for most of this attention on him for negative purposes.

What was worse off was the fact that he hadn't even gotten to get a single word through to the incarnation of Y-204.

This was basically the last class for the day, and Stare felt like this might be his last chance today to talk to Y-204.

Emma had dismissed them, and with the help of Paraclete, they managed to locate where the next and last class for the day was meant to hold.

They had soon gotten to an exceptionally wide hall, which easily rivaled that of the dining hall in terms of free space.

Decorated on the walls of this hall were weapons of different types, which ranged from swords and other bladed weapons to melee weapons and then even blasters and more technical equipment.

Stare had to admit, this was one of the most versatile arsenals he had come across in all the lives he had lived.

As the students busied themselves with the sight the hall presented, a new set of students also walked into the hall.

It was the Students with the status of Main Heroes.

The students with the Status of Supporting Hero could feel their looks of contempt on them as they walked into the hall immediately segregating themselves from them.

A number of students with the Supporting Hero Status were offended by this; some also threw looks of contempt at them as well, while the most tried avoiding their gaze.

Stare had expected such a reaction after the issuing of Status; this was the relationship between who sees themselves as the superior over the one they see as inferior.

Even the normal students who had managed to get the Main Hero Status also looked down on the ones they formally viewed as equals or even friends.

Bobby seemed to be particularly pissed off by this development, but aside from his occasional murmurs and complaints, he didn't take any other excessive action.

Stare spotted Joel amongst the crowd of Students with Main Hero Status; he had his face down, like he was trying to avoid making eye contact with either him or Bobby.

Stare could understand what conflict he was going through and planned on having a word with him later on.

He also spotted Y-204 just standing behind, amidst all the chaos.

He was tempted to rush into the group of students with the Main Hero Status, but eventually pushed that thought to the back of his mind.

Despite not bothering with how his relationship with the Elites or other Students with the Main Hero Status turned out, he still needed to set some boundaries to his provocations.

Despite who he was or what power he possessed before, these people were in the end more in advantage than the present him.

Besides, this was a combat class, so the chances they would suddenly get separated were very slim.

Another figure soon entered the hall, and that seemed to immediately calm the ongoing tension as the attention of everyone was drawn to her.

It was a tall, gorgeous lady who looked to be in her twenties despite possessing the aura of someone who had lived for over fifty years.

She had red hair which was styled as a pixie cut and red eyes which went well with the red bodysuit she had on.

Stare quickly noticed the subtle change in the expression and mood of most of the Elites the moment the lady walked into the hall; heck even Elites amongst Elites like Ares, Eleanor, and Ava looked as though they had just seen their greatest fear and nemesis.

'Could she be one of those extremely popular and powerful Primes' Stare wondered.

He looked toward Bobby, but Bobby surprisingly didn't seem to know the lady as his expression held curiosity as well.

For some reason the more Stare looked at the lady, the more something about her seemed familiar.

The lady walked into the hall and stood in-between the two separated groups of students with the Main Hero and Supporting Hero Status.

Her eyes scanned the two groups for a while before finally speaking.

"You will call me Teacher Lagertha, and I'll be in charge of making sure you don't go out into fights and battles only to act like some bunch of worthless flops."

Her strong and strict voice resounded through the hall.

Stare quickly cursed underneath his breath the moment he heard the lady talk.

He now understood why the Elites seemed so scared of her; even him, could feel a cold shiver run down his spine.

The lady reminded him of a particular character he had grown to fear during all his previous Cycles.

Those deep yet shallow eyes that seemed to have seen a lot, the manner in which she spoke in and the aged and oppressive aura she had around her.

People with similar behavior patterns were present in his previous Cycles and always majorly involved in the Oracle's Path.

A female battle maniac who despises anyone without skills, or the drive to grow stronger and is particularly obsessed with training people she views as talented.

And worst of all, they usually had a habit of using unnatural training methods on those characters they find talented.

Despite him repeatedly saying he couldn't attract attention in a class and yet still doing the opposite, he was extremely serious in this case, he couldn't do anything that would attract the attention of this woman.

While Stare was busy making his mental note, he suddenly felt someone looking intensely at him.

He looked up to see Lagertha looking back at him with interest as a slight smile formed on her face.

Wait! Interest?

Stare was immediately alarmed
