บท 182: When In Rome Umu As Romans Do

Linus Ozias POV:
Having the senses of a Kryptonian is interesting in an empty world as I can spread my senses across the world and hear nothing in absolute silence. It's almost creepy to hear absolutely nothing. Even the animals are gone, other than Fou, of course. Speaking of which.
"Fou, I need to stand up. Can you please get down?" The white squirrel dog nods and gets off and then proceeds to climb onto my shoulder as I see Karna outside my lab. "Hello, Karna. May I help you with something?" The warrior then asks, "Would I be able to accompany you to this singularity?"
I smile and say, "Of course, Karna, but may I ask why?" The man simply says, "I wish to see how you operate and hold yourself in a more hostile setting. There is an old saying that you never truly know someone until you see them having to fight someone else as how they engage says more than one thousand words."
I nod, understanding his viewpoint as I mention, "We still have to go through today's summoning before we head into the singularity, but if you wish to accompany us, I will welcome you, as your expertise should serve us very well." The demigod slightly bows as he returns to his astral form to await my summons.
I see Mash and Ritsuka walking towards the summoning room as Mash asks me, "Did you rest well, Ozias Senpai? You did eat a lot of those dumplings yesterday?"
I nod and respond, "I rested it quite well, Mash, and even then, due to my innate biology, I don't even really need to sleep as the very sun empowers me."
Mash then cutely points her finger and says, "That's no good, Senpai. You still need to get your rest even if you don't need it." I chuckle as Ritsuka says, "Mash, why are you not asking how I am doing?" Mash then says, "It's because I know how you were doing because I had to knock you out yesterday because you ate too many sweets."
Ritsuka then gasps and says, "So that's why I feel slight pain in my neck. I should go on a worker's strike and try to get some injury pay."
Mash then responds plainly, "Delusional Master, there is no one left to give you injury pay, and besides, you are getting free housing along with divine cuisine from Ozias Senpai. Think about it: if you were to quit, you would lose it."
I would feel proud of Mash's social development if she wasn't suddenly using her skills to gaslight my friend here. Ritsuka then looks shocked and says while climbing on me, "Oz, that is not true, right?" I simply say, "That depends on you, but for now, let's head to the summoning room."
Ritsuka pouts, and we head into the Fate room. As Mash places her shield, Medusa and Tamamo enter to guard Ritsuka. As I step up the summoning circle, I say the chant as the circle glows in a red demonic light as a figure emerges.
After the smoke clears, we see a woman wearing a Japanese military uniform combined with a red and black dress. As she opens her eyes, she immediately aims her gun at me, to which I simply catch the bullet and disintegrate it like Tatsuya from Irregular of Magic High School.
The woman begins to laugh maniacally as she smiles and continues to fire with multiple bayonets at once, to which I simply catch each and every single bullet, which is seemingly empowered by her Noble Phantasm subtly.
After around 10 minutes of just firing at me, she stops and slams her katana onto the ground as she says rather boisterously, I might add.
"Yes! This is what I expect from my Master! Heed this call. I am Oda Nobunaga, the Demon King Of The Sixth Heaven! Let us dance upon the enemy's corpses who defile our campaign!"
I think I may have discovered where the term chunni came from. She then walks up to me, looks me over, and says, "Why do you remain silent? Are you surprised I am such a beautiful woman? Do you wish to die?"
I smirk as I lean down to her level as our auras begin to flood the room. Mine is like a holy and fiery heavyweight, while hers seems like an enveloping darkness filled with killing intent.
The whole facility begins to shake with the mere release of our power, but soon enough, we stop as she looks me over and says, "I like you! Now prepare the banquet to celebrate my arrival!"
I immediately pick her up by her robe and say, "Lady Nobunaga, we sadly have no time for that now as we are currently in a situation." She raises her eyebrows as I begin to explain our current predicament, to which, instead of having a thoughtful expression, she shows immediate excitement: "That sounds amazing! Even if it sounds like the first arc in a long story."
(Nobu, do not break the fourth wall; I don't have enough Flex tape to fix it!)
That was strange as I thought I heard a voice as I said, "Regardless, we are about to step into one of the singularities, and we are just doing the summons before we head in. Do you wish to join?" The woman then, with a fiery expression, says, "Of course, the chance to lead is my purpose, and to see my foes bloodied and beaten before me brings me bliss."
I may have made a huge mistake summoning this woman as while she has fiery red hair, which falls into one of my types, she is literally the embodiment of being opposite to Buddha. For now, though, she walks over to Ritsuka as she. Oh no.
"You will be my onee san now! That aura! That stare! It's perfect!" Nobunaga(Avenger) seems to laugh as she says, "Yes, I am! Now, we shall conquer our enemies together!" The two then begin to collude as a rather dark aura emanates from them. Causing even Tamamo and Medusa to back away.
Ritsuka then says, "We are related now! I judge this as so!" Nobu then smirks as she looks at me, with Ritsuka stepping up to the circle.
But similarly to before, she somehow summons multiple mapo tofus again eight times in a row. The last one even had a note on it that said, "Hope all of this tofu is helping you guys with the food shortage."- ER.
I recognize those initials, and I get slightly annoyed, but on the last one, the circle activates as another servant appears, and it seems to be-.
"I ask of you. Are you my Master?" Artoria Pendragon (Saber) has arrived! I find it ironic that the main character from Grand Order just summoned one of the most prevalent servants across the Fate universe.
This is perfect, as now I can learn how to create a true Excalibur by studying hers. Internally, I am shouting for joy as I can truly learn how that sword was created, and unlike a certain hero of justice, I don't need to worry about killing myself trying to create one.
For now, I'm using my analysis magic to study it from afar, but soon enough, once we get to know each other, I will take hold of the sword and trace every single nook and cranny.
For now, though, Ritsuka looks at me and gives me a thumbs up as she says, "Hello, baber. This is your designation now." The saber just looks at her with mixed emotions as I step up and say, "Welcome to Chaldea, King of Knights. Allow me to explain the current issue." I then repeat what I told Nobu, to which Artoria immediately takes out Excalibur and says to both of us.
"If what you are saying is true, this task is of utmost importance, a true battle to save Humanity, and as such, I shall offer you my sword willingly as a king must protect their subjects." I nod as Ritsuka says, "Yes, I see the protagonist's energy flowing through you."
I feel as if my partner has read way too many novels, but I allow her insanity as I take the tofu into my storage. Who knows? With how spicy the tofu is, I may be able to use it as a weapon. For now, though, Mash, Ritsuka, and I head to the ray shift room with Romani saying over the intercom.
[All right, everyone, now that I have recovered from the abuse I have suffered from the director, I have come to inform you all that based on the coordinates, you all will be heading to first-century Rome during the time of the rule of Emperor Nero be careful as we have picked up multiple servants signatures in that singularity.]
I almost laugh internally as now that we have both Artioria and Karna, never mind Nobu, on our side, we should have very few issues. But I must not allow myself to become overconfident as well. I do remain excited to meet the illustrious Empress herself; I cannot allow my excitement to take root over my logical thinking.
I am trying to keep as close to the original story as possible so as not to alert any third parties that anything has changed while I remain in a blind spot to precognition as well as clairvoyance. I do not know how long this lasts. But I will do what I must, and with my strength returning, I feel as if I can go up against those Demon Gods if need be.
We are then Ray Shifted into the singularity along with Fou, Artoria, Mash, Karna, and Nobu, who I can feel is excited through the servant bond. At the same time, Karna is a ball of impenetrable will and duty.
Tamamo and Medusa decided to stay behind this time and practice fighting against one another. But worse comes to worse. I can use my essence of the Throne of Heroes to simply summon them here, using myself as a means to power the servants.
Soon enough, we find ourselves on the ground surrounded by grasslands and a blue sky, with Mash saying, "Ahh. We've successfully teleported this time, Senpai. The feel of the wind, the scent of earth, the vast blue sky. ... It's strange. I've seen it on film so many times, but just standing here, it's so much more vivid."
I nod along with Ritsuka as I myself had always wished to visit Italy, especially during the Roman Empire's time. Fou then makes his presence known by popping out of my hood. "It seems my friend also enjoys the outdoors, Mash." She nods as she says, "Well, Fou enjoys the outdoors more than the base, anyways."
Fou raises his paw as if saying, "You know it." But then we look into the sky to see that same ring that existed in Orleans, a sign of the ritual taking place in this singularity. Romani then comes over to the comms.
[I see that you all have arrived safely, but I am having a hard time getting a read on your position. Can you give me any identifying marks?]
Ritsuka says, "Sorry, Roman, but all we see are grasslands and Hills with a couple of trees dotting the landscape."
[That is strange. You were supposed to appear in the city of Rome, but you're in the Hills. It is definitely still in Italy but further out than I was hopeful for.] But then, before we can ruminate on the subject, a large battle can be heard starting.
Nobu then says in my mind, "Yes, I can smell the carnage from here! Let go forth, Master, and show these whelps our power!" You know I was never one to enable the insane, but this is one of the few exceptions as we all rush over to see a large skirmish between Romans.
On one side, I see the umu empress herself giving orders to her men. We then join in on her side, and as she sees us, she looks suspicious, but she yells, "Who are you all? Are you allies of the enemy, umu?" There it is.
I shake my head and say, "We are here to help." Which looks less and less likely as Nobu is currently tearing her way through the enemy soldiers laughing in ecstasy as Artoria aids Mash with Karna remaining by my side in my shadow. As we fight, all I can say to myself is, "Welcome to Roma Oz."
