"Alas, what does that girl see me as?" Tapiwa helplessly shook her head as she watched Ruth skipping happily as she made her way towards her mother's maidservant, who had come to pick her up.

Remembering how tearful, nervous and anxious Ruth was the previous night when she came to seek permission to go to her parents' house, Tapiwa still found that part very funny.

She hadn't been strict with the little girl at all. Apart from teaching her the ways of being a woman, she hadn't gone deeper into the lessons yet.

Of course, as a woman, or a girl, how could you not know how to lit a fire, cook your food, wash the dishes or even clothes?
