"DO you think we have enough candy?" I dumped another bag of mixed chocolate in my large black cauldron and picked a few pieces up off the floor when they fell out with my enthusiasm.
Jerome took the empty plastic bag for me and threw it on the ground behind him. I’d been about to protest, but then he stood behind me and wrapped his arms around my side, his palms resting on my hips. "Babe, you have enough to give every child in Pelican Bay two pieces of candy."
He squeezed and rested his chin on the top of my head. A man had never held me so close. And I loved being in Jerome’s arms. It made me feel safe and loved. I wasn’t really a cuddler, not until it came to him. Now that’s all I wanted to do.
I spent so much time thinking about Jerome. It was getting to where that’s all I thought about. And the more I thought about him, the more I worried I was falling in love. He placed a gentle kiss to the back of my head, and I sighed in contentment, relaxing into his arms.
