WATER SPLASHED every few seconds as Lily swam a lap in Pierce’s pool below his office where I sat currently perched behind his desk. I’d taken over his weekly business meeting while he was still on vacation with Katy. The problem was, while I heard Lily, I couldn’t see her from my vantage point. When I looked out the window, all I saw was the ocean.
She was too far away for me, and even though Pierce’s home was safe and Lily was fine, I hated I couldn’t be with her at the moment.
The gentlemen in Pierce’s office were discussing the body found in Lily’s shop, but no one had more information to give even though each person promised they were using all their available resources to look into the matter.
They gave as much credence to the pirate treasure theory as I did, which wasn’t much, even with my mention of seeing the two men at the bakery with shovels.
Ridge spoke in his low timbre, and my ear picked up pieces of the conversation.
