บท 218: -215- A chance to meet again

At the same time, outside of Orleans on the battlefield, changes began to occur.

"Clang..."

"Clang..."

The previously fierce battle between the demon wolves and wyverns suddenly halted as they emitted light and remained still in their tracks.

"This is..."

Amadeus, who was conducting the orchestra from the rear, was taken aback when he saw this situation.

Shortly after, the genius musician understood.

"I see, it's over then."

Amadeus lowered the conductor's baton he had been waving.

Meanwhile, on the battlefield, the fighting Servants separated and turned their attention towards the demon wolves and wyverns.

Under the gaze of all the Servants, the magical wolves and wyverns turned into particles of light one after another, disappearing on the spot.

This conveyed the message to everyone that the battle had ended.

"Is... is it over?"

"There won't be any more of those things, right?"

The only group of French soldiers that hadn't disappeared yet tightened their grip on their weapons, looking at each other with a hint of unease.

Gilles was among them, and after a moment of silence, he suddenly rushed towards Orleans.

The other Servants had various reactions.

"I... I haven't won yet! It's gonna end like this?! You're trying too hard, puppy!"

Elizabeth, her body scratched and torn by sharp claws, panted heavily while angrily protesting.

"That's my master, my dearest Anchin. Naturally, that witch won't even stand a chance!"

Kiyohime's kimono was tattered, but she still smiled and spoke these words.

Compared to these two girls, Vlad III and Carmilla had undergone more significant changes.

After all, as the Holy Grail was reclaimed, the mad enhancement imposed upon these Servants was lifted.

"I never expected I would do something so humiliating."

Vlad III's eyes were no longer filled with madness; instead, they held the dignity of a king. As he recalled his actions, he spoke with a mix of anger and annoyance.

Carmilla, now free from madness as well, was frustrated despite the intense bloodlust that remained within her.

"To think that girl just casually order a noble like me around. Sooner or later, I'll have her blood."

Even without madness, Carmilla's bloodthirsty nature remained intact.

"So, didn't I tell you not to do something like this again?"

Elizabeth immediately protested.

"You don't have any say here, little brat."

Carmilla retorted defiantly.

In the end, even though the battle was over and the madness had dissipated, it seemed that the relationship between these two was still as hostile as ever.

However, both of them knew that continuing to fight was no longer possible.

"Next time, don't appear in the same era as me, or I won't spare you."

Elizabeth said dejectedly but resolutely.

"I'm the one who should be saying that."

Carmilla responded coldly.

Both of them turned into particles of light simultaneously, dissipating into the air.

Following them were the other two Servants.

"Girl with the Dragon blood, tell me your name." Vlad III asked Kiyohime.

"I am Kiyohime." Despite a brief hesitation, Kiyohime replied, "The most loyal Servant under my Master, that's who I am."

"Is that so?" Vlad III nodded. Unlike his previously aggressive stance, he was now quite lenient. "I'll remember you. Your dragon breath is quite impressive. If we meet again, I'll consider taking you under my wing."

It seemed that this nobleman's nature was that of someone who valued talent.

But unfortunately...

"My body and heart belong to my Master. If you want to pursue me, start from the beginning."

Kiyohime made this firm statement without hesitation, despite only knowing Rozen for two days.

"Is that so?" Vlad III wasn't angry; instead, he smiled wryly. "Well, there's nothing to be done, then."

With those words, particles of light scattered from Vlad III, allowing the renowned vampire to depart from this era.

Only Kiyohime remained, gazing in the direction of Orleans, her lips curving into a smile.

"Ah, I really hope I can get to see him again..."

With that, Kiyohime also vanished into particles of light.

Amadeus witnessed the departure of these four Servant.

"What an peculiar bunch they are, though I don't have the right to talk about peculiar."

The genius musician didn't look toward Orleans, but instead in another direction, as if bidding farewell to a beloved, he smiled faintly.

"I'll be taking my leave then."

And so, Amadeus also disappeared.

The entire battlefield was left with a group of bewildered French soldiers, still in a state of commotion.

...

On the other side, the resounding sword dance and song had already faded away.

The queen and the knight, who had been locked in combat just minutes ago, now presented a peculiar scene.

"I'm truly sorry... Your Highness...! I...! I...!"

d'Eon knelt before Marie, his expression filled with immense regret.

"It's alright, it's not your fault. I understand."

Marie didn't dwell on their previous conflict. Despite her once-beautiful skin now adorned with various scars, she still wore a smile. She gently patted d'Eon's head, causing him to blush in embarrassment instead of remorse.

Marie thought d'Eon was cute like this, and she also looked toward the direction of Orleans.

"You've done it; you're truly amazing."

At this moment, Marie's smile was undoubtedly the most radiant it had ever been.

"I hope you won't face an unfortunate ending like I did."

With these words, both Marie and d'Eon turned into particles of light and disappeared.

All the Servants of this era had returned to their rightful places.

Except for one last Servant.

...

"Jeanne!"

In the audience hall, Jeanne, who had been watching Rozen's departure, heard a voice from behind. She lifted her head slightly and turned around slowly to face the source.

There, Gilles rushed in from the doorway, bearing the marks of a bloody battle all over his body, breathing heavy.

"Gilles..."

Jeanne softly called out his name.

With just that single utterance, Gilles halted in his tracks, just as he was about to approach her.

Gilles stared at Jeanne in a daze, and after a moment, it seemed as if he comprehended something.

"...Are you leaving?"

"...Yes."

The comrades in life exchanged these few brief words.

But...

"Perhaps we'll have another chance to meet again."

In the very end, Jeanne chose to bid Gilles the best farewell.

"Take care, Gilles."
