บท 47: Lambs and wolves

"Sit down miss Brooks," he pointed to the chair in front of his desk, "and please close the door behind you." 

Cassidy did exactly that, pressing her body against the chair as soon as she sat down. She tried to make herself small, feeling how tense the headmaster was; but then, she remembered that being called by the headmaster didn't necessary mean something wrong.

The mid aged man sat heavily on his own chair, fixing the probably too tight belt in his pants. He sighed.

"You must be wondering why I called you in, miss Brooks. And this—well this is not an easy matter."

"Is it about my scholarship?" She asked, knotting her eyebrows in concern.

He smiled, apologetically. "Oh no, dear. That's actually some good news that I have for you, but given the—incident, I didn't want to spoil the news with such a bitter conversation. I'm sure this is a misunderstanding."

"I'm sorry, sir, but what is going on? Everyone is acting weird today."
