บท 24: Devouring Blood Essence
While Kenji was shocked speechless by what just happened, Lucian's mind was elsewhere as he focused on the wolf's dead body instead.
The Hegemonic Asura Legacy worked by absorbing the Blood Essence of beings. So he wanted to try out how that works. Lucian stood beside the wolf for about five seconds but nothing happened making him crouch down and touch the wolf's head instead.
Immediately touching the wolf's forehead, violent pulse of energy entered into his fingers passing through his hands and into his head. Inside Lucian's Soul space. One of the star suddenly quivered, as a crimson red energy, like gas vapour suddenly appeared in it.
The process of absorbing the wolf's blood essence was very fast, not even upto five seconds before Lucian felt the energy slowly fading away. A smile appeared on his face, as although almost imperceivable, the slight growth in strength was present.
He immediately moved away from the wolf as he closed in on the remaining wolves he killed and absorbed their blood essence.
After absorbing their blood essence, he moved towards the wolves killed by Kenji, but a strange expression appeared on Lucian's face after placing his hand on its forehead. This time, there was no energy passing through him. It was as if the wolf didn't have blood essence.
Moving on to the second wolf killed by Kenji. The same result happened. There was no energy at all, making him arrive at an important conclusion.
The Hegemonic Asura Physique, can only absorb the essence blood of beings he himself killed. If he tried it on another beast killed by others, then he won't be able to absorb their blood essence.
This is also one of the limitations of the physique.
But it didn't bother Lucian the least, it only means if he wanted to grow stronger, then he needs to do the hard work himself.
"How did you do that?" Kenji asked speechlessly as Lucian finally placed his attention back to him.
Looking at the fatty who placed his hands on his mouth while looking at him as if he was seeing some monster. Lucian chuckled a little before responding:
"Well, I'm a little physically stronger than others and know a thing or two about the sword." Lucian said as he swung his sword around before sheathing it back in one fluid motion.
"Wow, you really are lucky then" Kenji said a little jealous of his supposed birth ability.
'Lucky?' Lucian thought but refused to say anything as he straightened his clothes.
"So why do you keep touching each of the wolf's dead body." Of course Kenji noticed his strange behavior but all he could see was Lucian placing his hands on the wolves forehead and withdrawing, he couldn't see his growth in strength or the crimson energy being absorbed.
Lucian's brain worked at full speed thinking of a perfect lie.
"There's this practice in my clan, which is to make sure to pay respects to our fallen foes. It would act as an acknowledgement for their strength and our respect towards them." Lucian said. While Kenji appears to be trustable, he would never let anyone know about his Hegemonic Asura Legacy. No matter how close to him they are, maybe except for Mia.
"A good practice." Kenji said.
"Let's get going.." Lucian said as the duo continue on their way to the Divine Battle sect, engaging in battles with different beast together while running away from the ones beyond their strength.

The night slowly set in as the Sun slowly set over the horizon causing the darkness to slowly creep in.
In the forest, the night was when the true battle for survival occurs as powerful nocturnal beast will slowly emerge and look for their food.
Lucian and Kenji slowly came to a halt as they saw the sun now already set completely while the moon shone it's light on them.
"We've arrived at half the entire forest and need only a half more to reach the Divine Battle sect." Kenji said as he looked at the building which was now more closer than ever.
"While we have truly reached half of the forest. The other half won't be a walk in the park." Lucian said as he looked into the distance. The darkness present within made his air stood on their head as there was no doubt it was concealing powerful nightmarish beasts.
They had encountered many powerful beasts, hiding and fighting all the while, making them extremely exhausted. Besides they even came across a beast at the Late Star rank stage, but luckily they weren't discovered. An hierarchy was observed by Lucian as he saw the deeper they head Into the forest, the stronger the beasts.
"Let's rest for now, and continue the journey tomorrow. The beasts concentration will be very high now, and we're already exhausted.. It's not really wise to continue on." Lucian said as the duo eventually started looking for a place to spend the night.
A large tree stood in the forest almost towering above others as it stretched it's branches around the entire area as if laying claim to the place. Below it stood two young men.
Lucian looked at the tree as he finally gave a nod, having found the place where they'll be resting for the night.
Not only was the tree incredibly wide, making it possible to sleep on its branches, it's long branches were covered in large flowers which blocks the sight of intruder beasts.
Lucian lied down immediately dozing off in the next second, but actually he was present in his soul l space.
Lucian stared at the Nine bloody stars as he saw one of them was already completely filled while another one was filled to half.
He only needed to fill two more stars completely and he'll step into the Early Star rank. The next day was going to be a hard day so he needed all the rest he could get.
Immediately removing himself from his soul space, he saw Kenji who was already snoring as he also went to deep sleep. Tomorrow, he'll continue on the journey of joining the Divine Battle sect and also improving his cultivation to the Early Star rank stage.
