บท 157: Chapter 155: Sharon Da Silva

After Jon had successfully defeated the monster, a new threat began to emerge from the depths of the subway. This new creature was a behemoth, drenched in blood, with a body so large and misshapen that it dwarfed the previous monster. It stood a good two heads taller than Jon and was so wide that it almost completely filled the width of the subway corridor. The most chilling aspect of this creature was that it had no discernible face—no head to speak of, just a grotesque, oversized lump of flesh with limbs, and a slight bump where a head would normally be.

The sight of this monstrosity caused the girl to recoil in fear. Her instincts kicked in, and she quickly stepped back, seeking refuge behind Jon. Jon, undeterred, lifted his high-tech rifle once more. With a resounding boom, he fired, and the giant creature was obliterated, its pieces scattering throughout the corridor.

After the echo of the gunshot faded, Jon took a moment to survey the area, making sure there were no more monsters lurking nearby. Satisfied that they were alone, he stowed his weapon away. Turning to the girl, he asked, "What's the deal with these monsters?" It was clear to him that he had somehow followed the girl's consciousness into this bizarre realm, but he wasn't concerned. With the Darkhold in his possession, Jon was confident he could find a way out.

The girl, still shaken, could only shake her head in response. She then managed to say, "I don't know much... only that they want to take me back home!"

"Home?" Jon's brow furrowed with concern. "Where is 'home' for you?"

The girl hesitated, her voice cautious as she replied, "Silent Hill."

At the mention of Silent Hill, Jon's eyes narrowed, a flicker of recognition passing through them before he relaxed. Silent Hill was a name he knew from a horror film, which itself was based on a video game series. Jon had played a few of the games and watched both installments of the film adaptation. He was no stranger to horror movies, having seen many before his life in the Marvel universe began, but only a few had truly unnerved him—Silent Hill was among them.

However, the initial jolt of fear quickly dissipated as Jon remembered who he was. The idea that he, the Ghost Rider, could be frightened by something like Silent Hill seemed absurd. With this realization, any lingering fear melted away, and he almost laughed at his previous reaction.

After a brief pause, Jon's curiosity returned, and he asked the girl, "Little girl, what's your name?"

The girl hesitated, recalling her mother's warnings about talking to strangers. Yet, considering that this man had just saved her life, she decided to trust him. "My name is... Sharon," she said softly.

Jon nodded, not particularly surprised by her name. Given his knowledge of the game and the movie, he had already pieced together who she might be. Still, he wanted to know more. "I mean, what's your full name?"

After a moment's pause, the girl answered more confidently, "Sharon Da Silva."

"Da Silva..." Jon repeated the name to himself, a sense of recognition in his voice.

He asked for her name to confirm which version of Silent Hill this was. In the game, Sharon's full name was Heather Mason, while in the first part of the movie, it was Sharon Da Silva. By her response, Jon confirmed part of the movie it was.

Then, Jon inquired further, "Have you often been transported to this place before?"

Sharon nodded, confirming his suspicion. "I always dream of these monsters. They want to take me back to Silent Hill, but every time I wake up, I can't remember any of it!"

In the original movie, Sharon was known to sleepwalk, and during these episodes, she would often speak of a place called Silent Hill. This recurring event was what led her mother to decide to take her to Silent Hill in the first place.

"A dream? You think all of this is just a dream?" Jon looked around, taking in their surroundings with a critical eye.

He was almost certain that they were not in a dream but a tangible place. If it were merely a dream or an illusion, the Spirit of Vengeance within him would have likely pulled Jon out by now.

"So, do you think I'm just part of your dream, not a real person?" Jon questioned her.

Sharon thought for a moment before shaking her head. "No, I've seen you before. You were on the subway, sitting across from me and my mom!"

After a brief pause, Sharon's voice took on a pleading tone. "Can I ask you for a favor?"

"What do you need?" Jon asked, his tone softening.

"When I wake up from this, I'll forget everything, like I always do. But you... you can come here. Could you please tell my mother to never go to Silent Hill?" Sharon's plea was earnest.

"Why?" Jon asked, his curiosity piqued, sensing that Sharon might know something important.

"Alessa will lie to us!" Sharon explained. "She would promise to let us go if we helped her get her revenge, but she will never do that. She'll k keep us trapped in Silent Hill. So please, tell my mother not to take me there."

"Alessa?" The name triggered a memory in Jon.

He recalled that the horror of Silent Hill was named Alessa. Sharon's mention of the name seemed to confirm a connection.

Noticing Jon's reaction, Sharon asked, "Do you know about her?"

"Maybe, I'm not entirely sure," Jon replied, his mind racing with thoughts of the implications of Sharon's words.

Jon listened intently to Sharon's words, realizing the gravity of what she was describing—it was the ending of the movie. In the film, Sharon's mother, Rose, desperate to understand her daughter's mysterious sleepwalking, took her to Silent Hill, only to discover a town overrun by nightmarish creatures.

The root of the horror was a cult that had once controlled Silent Hill and had burned a girl named Alessa as a witch. In her excruciating pain, Alessa's spirit had become consumed by vengeance, unleashing her wrath upon the town and setting it aflame.

Some members of the cult had managed to escape this fiery vengeance through certain means. In response, Alessa struck a bargain with Rose: if Rose helped her exact revenge on the remaining cult members, Alessa would allow her and Sharon to leave. But Alessa's promise was a deceitful one. Although Rose and Sharon did return home, it was a twisted version of their world, not the reality they knew.

Silent Hill, as Jon knew, was divided into three distinct realms: the real world, which was self-explanatory; the Fog World, a place with sparse monsters and perpetual ashfall, a remnant of the town's fiery past; and the Dark World, also known as the Otherworld, a nightmarish dimension filled with unspeakable horrors.

At the movie's conclusion, Rose and Sharon found themselves in a home shrouded in ash, a clear sign they were still trapped within the confines of Silent Hill's Fog World, not their own reality.

But Jon was puzzled. How could Sharon be aware of all these details now? It was a mystery that piqued his curiosity.

"I promise to tell her," Jon assured Sharon, though he was skeptical that Sharon's mother would take the word of a stranger at face value. But he had another idea in mind, a more proactive approach. "But I'm not sure your mother will easily believe what I say. However, I have a better solution."

Jon's face broke into a slight smile, a glint of determination in his eyes. "Let me go to Silent Hill, and I'll wipe them out completely." His confidence was not just bravado; as the Ghost Rider, he possessed powers that could potentially cleanse Silent Hill of its darkness once and for all.
