I looked at Goliath dumbfounded. In what world could he possibly believe I would marry him?

“Oh no. She is getting that look again,” Demi announced.

Before I could think better of it, I shot her a look of disgust. She reminded me of my place with no hesitation. I didn’t have time to look at the ground before her hand slapped loudly across my face.

Goliath let out a warning growl.

“Do you need a lesson in what happens when you cross me Ms. Ash?” His words were cool and laced with a deadly calm.

What did he mean to cross him? He didn’t strike me as someone who had issues with me being mistreated.

I didn’t expect her to back down immediately. Then again, hadn’t ever seen a situation where someone talked to her in that way. Although annoyance flashed across her face, she stepped back from me, finding the floor like she had trained me to do.
