Perplexed, Maggie uttered with a tinge of regret, "I need to take a call." Alla graciously nodded, watching as Maggie hastily exited the bedroom, shutting the door behind her. She had presumed much had transpired over these three years, but she didn't anticipate the entanglement between Maggie and Eric...

Outside, Maggie clutched her phone, whispering, "I am accompanying a friend tonight, I'm afraid I can't come." Eric, holding his stemmed glass, paused, "What friend?" Maggie answered ambiguously, "A female friend." Eric, placing down his glass, uttered in a bored tone, "Disappointing." The call ended abruptly and Maggie released a sigh of relief, turning to head back to the bedroom.
