"Have you lost your mind? How will I come out of the dorms at this time? Don't you see what time it is?" Evangeline asked the person on the call.
"It's not my problem, E. You asked me to circulate the information about this particular goon in the black market, and I did as you told me. He was seen in the Stary Night Club. You want to catch him or you want to let him go, it's all up to you," the man on the other side said, and Evangeline sighed.
She looked down from the railing and noticed the large pipes right beside the balcony.
If she sneaks out of here somehow without coming into the warden's eyes, she might actually get the chance to see this person for real.
She wasn't planning on grabbing him tonight, but of course, she wanted to see how he was doing after all those years. How he was living a happy life after ruining hers.
She took the cap from her desk before picking up her black bandana and closing the balcony door behind her, sliding down the pipes softly.
After making sure the warden was fast asleep, she snuck her way toward the University's side wall which was much easy to jump over.
Luckily she had noticed this broken wall when she was walking around in her free lecture to mark the locations she can use to go out of the University in emergencies like this. Evangeline jumped over the wall, dusting her jeans softly before she boarded a taxi.
"Where to madam?" The driver looked at the girl warily as she was almost covered from head to toe.
"Stary nightclub," She said before looking at her phone.
It was 11:30. The club would be crowded as hell. Will she really be able to catch that guy there?
She quickly dialed the same man's number she was talking to earlier.
"Send me the recent picture of the man. If you can get me one of the current ones along with the clothes he is wearing right now, it would be even better," Evangeline said before ending the call.
It took her thirty minutes to reach the Stary Night Club, and she gave the fare to the driver before taking a deep breath as she looked at the guy.
"Your identity, miss," The bouncer said, and she showed him her identity card.
"She is with me," Evangeline heard a voice from behind, and she turned to look at the stranger as they entered the club together, more like that man stuck to her.
"Hey, pretty lady. Want to grab some drinks?" The man asked her, and Evangeline scoffed before removing his hand that he brazenly slung over her shoulders.
"If I were you, I would keep my hands to myself," Evangeline twisted his hand and turned his body before throwing him into the crowd, causing an uproar as he fell over the people who were busy dancing.
Now where is she supposed to find this man here?
From the photo that the man arranged for her, this goon was sitting in some room. He must be in one of those rooms that are made for business meetings or group parties and stuff like that. Evangeline sighed.
This reminds her, she needs to praise this man for his good job. She can't even fathom how he got this photo of this goon.
He or his man must've entered the room as a service to get the photo, and even after knowing very well how dangerous these goons are, they surely took a great risk.
Meanwhile, in the same club, a group of 8 men dressed in business suits sat inside one of the VIP meeting rooms.
Though all of them were sitting on the exact sofas, anyone could see who was the most dominating person in the room. It wasn't because he was sitting in the middle of the couch, but because he was exuding a kind of arrogance and dangerous vibe that clearly makes people stay away from you.
His gaze was neutral and cold, but the way it swept over everyone lazily, as if he didn't care about anything or anyone in this world was what screamed his dominance over the room and the business he handled.
"Laurentius, man. Can you ease that dangerous look on your face? You are making us feel like this is some kind of board meeting and not a friendly gathering," One of the men said, and Alexander quirked his brows.
"So you want me to smile pretentiously just because you guys thought it was funny to drag me here in the name of enquiring about the girl who was dining with me?" Alexander scoffed, looking down to the dance floor through the floor-to-ceiling glass with a bored look
"Hey, don't be like this. It's not every day we hear news like this. Blake even came from the other city just to see the live show of enquiring," The same man said again, and Alexander's droop eyes swept over him momentarily before he scrolled the news on his phone's screen.
"She is just a university graduate," he said after a dragging silence.
"Bro, don't tell me you are now into young girls and -"
"She studies with Justin," Alexander's eyes turned dark, and his friend chuckled awkwardly before shutting his mouth.
"Stop it, Sean. Let him speak," Blake said, and Alexander rolled his eyes at their fake calmness when he could clearly feel their excitement all across the table.
Meanwhile, Evangeline, pushed forward through the crowd, climbing the staircase of the first floor.
"Hey, can you give me the specific room number where he was last seen?" Evangeline finally called the man again, and the man sighed.
"Are you losing your fire, E? Have you been slacking off a lot lately? You were good at spying such sh*t yourself. Why are you acting like an amateur as soon as you enter the country?" The man's voice was laced with annoyance before he told her the room number.
"What was it?" Evangeline asked, trying to listen through the loud music.
"It's 20 -"
The call disconnected, and Evangeline looked at the phone in horror.
Please don't tell her the battery died. She looked at her phone in horror.
Damn it! Now how the hell was she supposed to look at his photo?
She sighed before taking a deep breath.
He said it was something with 20, right? Let's check those rooms one by one.
Evangeline nodded at herself before entering the VIP region of the club.
"Miss, you can't enter here," One of the club security said, and Evangeline showed him her fake business card that said she was the CEO of a cosmetic company.
"I am here for business. Are you sure I am not allowed?" She asked, and the security apologized before letting her enter the area. As soon as Evangeline entered the corridor she pulled her black scarf that she had tied in her neck and hid her face with it.
She checked all the rooms one by one before looking at the three remaining rooms.
Standing in the middle of the hall, she contemplated which room to go into when one of the doors opened as a waitress with a bottle of champagne exited, looking at her weirdly.
In the room, Alexander, who was sitting facing the door, narrowed his eyes when he caught a glimpse of the girl in the corridor.
There is no way she is -
What is he thinking? He dropped her at University himself. He sighed before taking a sip of his drink.
This girl was taking up the space in his mind more than he allows anyone to. This wasn't good.
