"What did you call me?" Alexander's voice was low and cold.
He has never had someone call him a dude even when he studied in the States for three years. How dare a girl call him that just because she was beautiful?
Wait. Beautiful? She was looking just like so-so.
Though Alexander's aura was a clear indication that he was someone not to be messed with, Evangeline, who has had experience working with people like Senior Brian and Senior J, didn't flinch back.
"I called you a dude. You look like a man. Or would you prefer it if I call you, Girl? Do you recognize yourself as a girl?" Evangeline raised her brows with a smirk, her stance provocating.
Secretary and bodyguards - "..." Miss, please keep your mouth shut. Refrain yourself from making such kind of jokes with our second young master or he'll rain havoc on all of us.
They wanted to tell the girl, who looked like she had no idea who he was. Then again, only a few people know about their second young master because he never makes his appearance in public.
"Don't you think you are being a bit too rude for someone who doesn't have eyes?" Alexander asked, and Evangeline widened her eyes.
The secretary sighed. What has gotten into their second young master today? Does he not care about his time at all? Right. The driver wasn't here yet. Then again, it doesn't mean he should go around picking fights either.
Why was he provoking a spark in the girl when it was his fault?
"Eva, what's happening? Are you fighting already?" Mr. James said from the other side of the phone, and Evangeline looked at the phone before ending the call quickly.
"Woah, do you even hear yourself? I don't have eyes? Are you sure you are blaming the right person? I wasn't the one pacing around the exit like my wife is about to deliver a baby soon," Evangeline stepped ahead, raising her heels to look into straight his eyes.
Though she was a good 5'10" and was wearing boots, she was still a little shorter than the man in front of her, and it pissed her even more.
"What did you say? How insolent of you!" Alexander's pupils dilated.
This was the first time he was meeting someone like this. Such a brazen girl!
"First, you turned blind and bumped into me, and now you can't hear me too? Are you a special case? Don't tell me you turn blind and deaf from time to time," Evangeline said.
Was it because she was back in her city? Why was she bothering to argue with some dumbhead? And why the hell was this man arguing with her?
"Dumbhead? Did you just call me dumbhead?" This was beyond what Alexander could take, and he gritted his teeth.
The secretary closed his eyes, praying for the girl because he knows what kind of temper his boss can have, and how he can make her and her entire family disappear with one click of a finger.
This girl really has no idea who she is messing with. One of them surely needs to stop before things go out of hand.
Evangeline immediately understood that she spoke her words out aloud and she was about to apologize to him for calling him that when he held her hand and pulled her closer, making her chest bump into him as she looked into his brown blazing eyes.
He grabbed her jaws, forcing her to look into his eyes.
"I dare you to repeat what you said," his eyes darkened, and Evangeline's breath hitched slightly.
The hell! How can he manhandle her in public like this?! Evangeline thought, glaring at him, but her thoughts suddenly paused.
Now that Evangeline looked at him up so close, she couldn't help but see his features more clearly. To say she was surprised would be an understatement.
It's not every day that she actually likes someone's facial features.
His jaws, pointed nose, fine lines and everything looked like it was chiseled by the god himself. He was a walking s*x god on Earth. Evangeline raked her gaze all over his face before settling back on his eyes.
"You do know what you are doing can get you in jail, right?
I am sorry for my rudeness earlier. What I said was quite impolite," Evangeline smiled, pretending to be unfazed by his growing anger, not wanting to get into trouble on the first day and hour of being back.
Besides, she had a strong intuition that Mr. James would be rushing here to the airport soon.
Seeing the girl in front of him smile so brightly, Alexander looked at her almond-shaped eyes that turned into a crescent moon shape and sighed.
"I am sorry for earlier too. I should've seen where I was going," Alexander said, and Evangeline smiled even more.
"I guess we both were impatient and at fault," she said.
"By the way, I am -" Evangeline paused when she saw a very concerned Mr. James ran towards the airport, and a chuckle left her mouth.
"You!" Mr. Jame's words made her look at him awkwardly.
Why was he making a scene the first thing?!
"Thanks for saving me from falling anyway," She patted Alexander's shoulders and left with her luggage.
Alexander turned around and looked at the leaving girl, who suddenly turned from an attacking lioness to a rabbit.
"Mr. James!"
Her loud yet soft voice was clear even among the crowd as she ran and jumped into the arms of the man who appeared out of nowhere.
Alexander kept looking at the man and woman, and his hand clenched around his phone subconsciously.
"Sir, the car was here. The driver forgot to call us. I wanted to tell you but you were... Busy," The secretary rushed to Alexander, and he looked at his subordinate, making his subordinate bow down in submission before walking towards where the car was as directed by his bodyguards.
His gaze flickered to the girl, he argued with just a few seconds ago, who was hugging this man like a koala bear, and narrowed his eyes.
Such a brazen girl! How can she hug a man like that in public? She has no shame, does she?
As he kept walking, he suddenly recognized the side profile of the man she was hugging.
"James?"
How does she know him? As long as he knows, he doesn't have a girlfriend, right?
"Sir," the secretary opened the door for his boss, and Alexander sat inside the car before opening his laptop.
"You said the driver forgot to call you and you let me stay there because you didn't want to disturb me. I wonder what you'll feel like when I forget your yearly bonus because I was busy," Alexander murmured, and the secretary widened his eyes.
"Sir, please don't do this. You already gave me two negative points that I earned back after working so hard," The secretary moaned in displeasure, and Alexander hummed.
"If you want to save yourself from more demerit points and want your year-end bonus back, I want all the information about this girl on my office table within a week. Who does she think she is? She bumped into me and left like that? I even saved her from falling. Where are her manners?" Alexander justified his curiosity.
Why does the boss need her information for that? Didn't they handle and sorted the matter by saying sorry? Besides, wasn't it the boss's fault? Even with the bumping and getting offended in the first place just by getting called dude. Look who's talking about manners.
The secretary looked at his boss and bit his lower lip to control his mouth.
Meanwhile, Alexander closed his eyes and rested his face on the window, his mind going back to what his father said in their last meeting.
"Sir, the elder master called. He said they are gathered in the Continental Spirit Club. Shall we go there too?" The secretary asked, and Alexander hummed vaguely.
