บท 3: The Point of no Return

A young girl stood in the dark room, her long ashen-blonde hair falling down her shoulder like a velvet waterfall. Her pale face was illuminated by the silvery moonlight and the red flashing light of the alarm that loudly blared throughout the facility.

Her heart thudded loudly, surging adrenaline coursing through her veins like a breached dam. With determination, she extended her delicate, pallid hands toward the grunting, breathless figure in black sprawled on the floor.

An unseen force emanated from her hands, pressing the man to the ground. Step by step, she advanced, her piercing purple eyes locked onto the firearm, poised to react at a moment's notice.

Advancing steadily, the man's labored panting grew increasingly desperate. "He deserves this. He took my life once before," She silently affirmed what she was going to do.

Lowering herself cautiously, her hands inched closer to the glowing blue handgun. Finally, her slender fingers made contact with the cold, smooth metal surface, prying it from the man's contorted grasp.

Suddenly, the man stirred, his head jerking toward the lowered girl as he forcefully headbutted her. Her petite frame crumpled to the ground, pain stabbing at her forehead. A warm, crimson stream trailed down her face—her own blood.

The jarring impact distorted her vision, her legs wavering and growing feeble. The man rose, his bloodshot eyes reflecting the pulsating scarlet hue of the alarm's glow, his gaze desperately darting around as he sought her.

"Enough, little girl. It is time for you to die, finally. Where are you?"

'I must have blinded him.' Tia exhaled, a wave of relief washing over her. However, that fleeting moment of carelessness proved to be a misstep as the man sprang toward her with astonishing speed, his imposing, muscular frame propelling him forward.

Tia's small hand clutched the cold metal, realizing she still held the gun. Instinctively, she raised it, her aim guided by instinct rather than clarity, targeting the general direction of her assailant.

She closed her eyes and pressed the trigger.

Then she pressed it again and again. In an instant, a blinding blue light pierced through the room, visible even through her closed eyelids, momentarily illuminating the scene.

Her eyes snapped open, her hands trembling.

The man staggered, his body faltering before collapsing to the ground with a resounding thud, motionless.

Finally, a sigh of relief escaped Tia's lips, though her head throbbed persistently, her ears echoing with a faint ring.

"Haha, I have survived!" she immediately erupted into laughter, realizing the joy of living, the joy only known by those who narrowly avoided death.

Many steps were resounding through the hallways outside, shouts closing towards her room.

'Guards! Where were they when I needed to save!'

Tia rose on her legs, which were still wobbly, her eyes scanning her surroundings.

"Come on, be a good girl and drop that gun! I don't know what happened here, but I know that you didn't want to hurt anybody." A soft voice spoke at her, a doctor in a white rubbery uniform looking straight at her.

Two tall and muscular men in white stood beside him, threateningly looking at her.

One held a simple sleeping-dart gun looking like a short tube. While the other one held a white straitjacket.

Their muscles were tense as they were ready to move in an instant to tackle her to the ground and restrain her, only the gun she held holding them back.

She stood rooted to the spot, a surge of uncertainty coursing through her. The situation felt like an inescapable trap, with every available choice carrying dire consequences.

Her eyes looked at the gun, 'Should I kill them and run? I will become a fugitive.'

Her options were bleak as she knew she would be a wanted criminal even if she escaped.

On the other hand, even if she surrendered, they would keep her locked up. She shuddered, remembering how she hated to be restrained in a straitjacket—in the oppressive and painful hug of white cloth.

"Can't you let me go? I don't belong here..." She knew there was no chance they would just let her go, but she wanted, no, she needed to hear it from them to justify what she was about to do.

"No, you know that you are very sic..."

That was all she needed as she erupted into laughter, no longer registering the doctor's words, "Haha, what would be a difference? I will end up locked up anyway! I have had enough of such a life. I want freedom!"

The doctors spoke at her again soothingly, "Calm, Hel..."

But she interrupted him immediately, "No, I am no longer Helena. From now on, I am Tiariel!"

'There were good doctors and nurses, but you were a scumbag and sadist.' Her eyes flashed in the light as hatred boiled within her.

She looked again at the doctor, her heart burning in hate, "Not, again. I hate you. I hate the torture that you are calling a treatment. I hate your needles, straitjackets, and your electrodes."

Suddenly something whistled through the air, quickly flying in her direction, Tia only blinked on instinct, and her mind reached to protect her. She opened her eyes again, a dark red feather dart levitating in the air, almost touching her face with a long shiny needle-like tip.

'Did they try to sedate me?! Am I some kind of an animal?!'

Two men in white moved towards her, reaching towards her weak body with their large, monkey-like muscular arms, bringing the straitjacket closer to her.

In a frenzy, she swung her hand with unyielding determination. The invisible might of her mind surged forth, colliding with their bodies. The impact propelled them forcefully backward, akin to a car collision, as they soared through the air, ultimately crashing against the wall with resounding thuds.

She aimed her gun at the doctor, a puddle growing under him and the smell of ammonia mixing with the iron smell of blood.

"No, wait...".

She pulled the trigger again, and the blue light flashed in the corridor, the doctor's head bursting apart in a red fountain, leaving only the smoldering neck behind.

His decapitated body crumpled into a pool of his urine, wisps of smoke curling from the scorched, blackened remains.

With a chilling calm, she pivoted her gaze toward the two white-clad orderlies, blood trickling from their crushed skulls as they slumped against the wall.

A smile formed on her face, 'You have tried to touch me!'

Normally she wouldn't kill someone just for something like that, but she needed to upgrade her telekinesis as fast as possible to improve her chances of escape.

'Morality has no place when fighting for life!' She was alone in enemy territory, and every second she spent moralizing could cost her life.

With a determined focus, she aimed her hands at the orderlies, unleashing an imperceptible surge of energy that pressed relentlessly against their necks.

As the invisible force gripped their throats, their visages gradually took on a bluish hue, deprived of precious oxygen. Writhing and convulsing on the ground, they emitted desperate choking sounds, their struggle for breath growing increasingly desperate.

The light in her eyes lit up as she fed more energy into her hands, and a loud snapping echoed through the dark hospital corridors as their necks snapped.

"No, please leave me be!" a crying voice came from her side as she turned her head.

A young nurse with long blonde hair trembled with her back against a wall in the corner, hidden within the darkness. Her whole face was frozen in horror, tears flowing down her cheeks.

Tia raised her trembling hand.
