"You are quite a good businessman. Your game is very useful for the kids as it gives them duelling experience without actually harming them. We just want it to be accessible to more kids than just eight per day."
"Oh… hehehehe… ah man… a praise from professor Dumbledore himself. That should be enough for me to graduate right now hehehe." Alex said as he smiled sheepishly, making the headmaster chuckle.
"Well then, what do you say, do you want to sell it?"
"I don't want to sell it, but I do have another solution. I'll go this route only when you agree to my conditions."
Dumbledore simply nodded before gesturing him to continue.
"It's like this, I'll make more of the boards. About five more… so we will have a total of six. One board in each common room and two in the great hall.
It is compulsory for everyone to have one duel per week and their opponent will be picked at random based on their win rate.
If we make a large board that shows the top twenty duellists that refreshes every week, people will surely work hard to get better and this includes the first years like me.
Only the duels that take place in the great hall will be considered and the price per person to participate in a duel is one knut. To avoid the monopolisation of the two boards, we can limit the usage to two duels per week for each student.
If people want to duel in their common rooms, the price is two knuts per person and there will be no usage limits.
Finally, I will make a modified board with better shields and looks. I want this specific board to be used by the professors to duel every week. Not all of them have to fight. Only two professors every week and with this, the students can get some inspiration and insight which will help them learn faster.
The duels will be recorded and sold for one knut each. 50 percent of the sales will go to me and 50 percent to the professor who wins the duel. You can give privileges to a few students if you wish to do so and finally, each board will cost ten galleons to manufacture so I will need a total of sixty galleons for the game boards and twenty galleons to make the board for the professors."
[A/N: For those who find the above paragraph complicated, I'll make it simple for you guys :)
1) TWO boards in great hall = 1 student per week compulsory duel. Max usage = 2 duels per student. 1 knut per use.
2) ONE board in each common room = FOUR. Unlimited usage, 2 knuts per person.
3) ONE board will be given to Dumbledore. Any two professors duel each week and to view the duel, each kid has to pay 1 knut.
Hope that made it simple. If you still find it confusing, don't hesitate to comment on this paragraph.]
Dumbledore nodded slightly and stared at the table in front of him, deep in thought.
Almost a minute later, Dumbledore stood up, making Alex flinch.
"I agree to your terms and they do seem extremely good for the development of the students and also the professors. I only have one question, how do you plan on collecting all the money and why do u need double the money for the advanced one?"
"Oh that. I'll just make a magic item that collects money for me. The first model will be primitive so it would be better if I can borrow one house elf for the task.
It'll be good if I could get help from some of the professors too since I'm not too well versed in this field of magic and to answer your second question, I will have to add the recording function which will store and duplicate the audio and video for us which can be viewed in different angles."
"Hm… you really are pretty knowledgeable for someone so young. Keep it up and maybe I will teach you alchemy myself. Anyways, sure. You can borrow some of the house elves if one isn't enough and since you know that we have house elves here, you should also know where they are."
"Yes, professor."
Dumbledore nodded as he sat back down, "Alright then, you can ask some of them to help you out and I will talk to professor Flitwick to help you out if you'd like. He is very experienced in the field of space magic. As for the eighty galleons, please wait here so I can go get the money."
Alex nodded and the old headmaster was off to a small chamber that was connected to his office. He took almost five whole minutes before walking out with a wooden box. He placed it on the table right in front of Alex.
"This box contains eighty galleons. This is a box that I conjured so it will stay materialised for a month or so I hope that you transfer the contents to a different reliable place.", he said as he walked back to his chair.
"Thank you, professor. If there's nothing else, I'll take my leave." Alex said as he looked at Dumbledore who nodded which made Alex promptly leave the office.
Alex walked out of the room and sighed before heading straight to the dormitory where he took out a small leather bag. He emptied the contents and counted the coins that fell on his bed.
"Twenty one galleons… thirty three sickles and … four knuts. If I add up the eighty galleons, it'll be more than a hundred gold which is pretty impressive and well, that's more than enough for now. Toffy!!"
*POP* A scrawny looking elf popped up right in front of him looking haggard. Only a second passed as he stared at his master before hugging his leg.
"Toffy missed master a lot. Toffy feels very lonely master…"
