บท 128: Work for the Padre
Uploaded a chap in the Auxiliary that explains most of the implants everyone had gotten for themselves, like I said before thanks to the system there bodies can handle these heavy cybernetic implants without falling into Cyber psychosis as a result where as compared to the game and anime to much chrome in the body with cause a person to break down and go insane as a result.

After getting some well needed sleep for the night for all of us, after Morning came I used some more of our SP to buy us a car that I went to go get from a nearby AutoFixers that I purchased online.
A Chevillon Thrax 388 Jefferson, not the best car out there but not one of the shitiest either, it's a pretty standard car that can be bought in Heywood area, most are modified but mines just the standard one as I have no rep with the Valentinos to pimp out my ride at discount, it would be insanely expensive but since I'm starting out in Heywood it's best to get the Padre to offer us some gigs to make a name for ourselves.
"Hop in." I say to Briar who jumps into the back seat as I get a feel of the Wheel before going off to the Chapel to meet the Padre in person.
So we set a course for, Nuestra Senora De Los Desamparados Cathedral where the Padre could be found.
Now while he is no longer a Pastor due to bearing witness to what is known as the 'Bloodbath of Moto Cielo' where he stopped being a Pastor and turned into a Fixer.
What's a Fixer? They are the Middlemen who give Mercs work to do from their clients though if you have no Street Cred you get low level gigs as a result but getting in contact with a Fixer is the best way to start to get your cred in this city and get yourself notice.
But you always have to start from the beginning before the other Fixers take notice of you before they decide to give you some real works to do.
And soon enough we pulled up on the Cathedral before finding an open space to Park, "Briar, please just stay in the car okay? I don't want to start a random bloodbath with the Valentinos alright?" I say looking at the girl who was enjoying the dubstep on the radio.
"Oookay! I'll just rest here while listening to the tunes!" She said before pulling the chair back and resting as I left the car and locked it as I headed to the chapel.
There were Valentinos who gave me the 'Who the fuck is this guy?' Look but didn't say anything as the Cathedral is sacred for the Valentinos and is neutral ground so no fights are to break out unless whoever started it wants to be murdered in a gruesome way.
The Cathedral was open to all but today it was mostly empty besides the Valentino Guards along with the Padres personal guard nearby, but every single one was sitting randomly around the pews with few standing by the walls and pillars.
I walk in before being stopped by the guards where I hold my hands up before they give me a scan and pat down, seeing as I have no weapons but notice I have Mantis blades they motioned they had their eyes on me before letting me in completely.
I soon walk in and see the old man with a balding set of hair sitting at a pew by himself before I went and sat at the one behind him as I looked upon Jesus on the Cross.
"…. A new face I do not recognize has come to my doorstep, tell me…. Why do you seek me out?" The Padre, Sebastian Ibarra, said to me but didn't turn his head, but must have been notified by his guards of my presence.
"I'm here to get into the Biz Padre, and your one of the few Fixers that accept rookies right off the bat from what I heard." I say getting straight to the point.
"…. Haaa…. I see you wish to make a name for yourself in Night City, very well, luckily for you most of the Mercs I know are pros and don't take low grade jobs from me unless I call in a favor to them to do so." He sighed before turning his head to look at me over his shoulder before turning around to look at me directly.
"Alright let's get your feet wet, you must know of the Scavs right? Well some of the Valentinos have gone missing along with the increase of Scavs in Heywood not being a mere coincidence, especially golden chrome Cyberware being found on the Blackmarket with some initials on them that were identified by Valentinos to be Cyberware of their missing crew members, now I've come on the location of there rat nest and the Valentinos would do it themselves but are willing to pay a Merc to clear them out for them, a bonus included if you provide evidence of how they died in a brutal fashion while getting back mementos from those that had fell in their hands, I'll send you the details on it all." He explains to me as I get a text message through the cerebral implant before pulling it up in my retina on the full details.
I stand up and nod, "Don't worry Padre, Scavs are the scum of the earth, every breath they take makes the world a worse place, don't worry they won't live to see sunrise." I say before I begin to leave.
"I sure hope so young man, do this and I'll give you the details on more gig locations around Heywood, soon you will make a name for yourself if you do well." He says to me as he watches me walk away he says before turning forward and bringing his hands together in prayer for the fallen Valentinos.
Soon enough I get back into my car, "Looks like we got our first gig Briar." I say to her though I don't look to happy.
"Why so glum Hifumi? This job not good?" She asked as I kept driving.
"No, it's not actually hard of a mission but it's a disgusting one nonetheless to deal with, we need to clear a Rat nest invested with Scavs who have been killing and harvesting peoples organs and Cyberware all together those sick bastards." One thing I can't stand are people like Scavs who go out and harvest random people for a quick buck.
"Ohhh…. So there like really bad people right?" As she is basically a living weapon her views on right and wrong are grey since she was and still is a cannibal herself.
"Yes, real bad people, people who wouldn't hesitate to kill your friends and chop them to pieces if they got the chance." I say to her which makes her imagine everyone she cares about cut up into pieces with body parts hanging on meathooks made her bloodlust nearly erupt as her eyes went pure red at the thought.
But I just place my hand on her head to calm her as I stroke her hair, "Wait until we get there and you can rip those bastards apart." I say with an evil looking smile as her rage simmers while we made our way to our first Gig.
That Rat Nest will soon become a bloodbath for all to see.
