"Darren! WATCH OUT!" Karl called out while pointing at an ogre that was about to attack Darren from behind.
"I got it!" Darren answered and quickly turned around and slid between the ogre's legs while cutting into the legs as he went through and finishing the fallen ogre with a decapitating strike.
"But you missed this one!" Lua ran forward and drew her sword and stabbed an ogre that had almost hit Darren and unleashed a powerful wave of lighting through its body. She jumped off of the ogre sheathing her blade and switching to her bow to shoot to arrows imbued with lighting at two more ogres that were moving in from the back lineup. They had been fighting the ogres for at least 15 minutes now and they had managed to take down a lot of them, but there almost seemed to be no end to them.
"There're more coming in!" Karl had just taken down one of the ogres in front of him when he saw another group coming in behind the two that Lua had just shot at. "Where the fuck are they all coming from! " Karl transformed his legs into the legs of an Azure Panthlion and dashed toward the new group with a roar. Lua drew her blade and ran toward the new group when Darren suddenly pushed her out of the way.
"What are yo-" It was then that she heard the sound of something heavy hitting a shield. She turned and saw Darren being pushed back by a giant rock that one of the ogres had thrown and was going to hit her instead had Darren not protected her. "Get off your ass and move Lua. We can't afford to lose anyone right now." Darren said clearly showing signs of being out of breath. Darren switched to a giant hammer, ran toward the group of ogres and slammed the ground as hard as he could causing the group to fall over. Karl then grew spikes out of his entire body and ran to the center of the group shooting out the spikes once he made it.
"Man I so sick of this." Karl was also showing some signs of exhaustion. In fact, all of were quite exhausted and were soon going to run out of energy. "I guess, this is how we go down." Darren said as he was now too tired to even change the form of his weapon.
"I wonder if Mill is okay." All of Karl's limbs slowly started to return to their original states and Karl was barely standing on his feet. "Lua seeing as you can at least still walk I suggest that you make a break for it."
"You idiot, stop telling me what to-"
"Lua listen to me!" Darren cut Lua off. "If we all go down here, then there's a very likely chance that we'll fail the test and won't be able to become adventurers." Lua stopped and listened intently to Darren. "If we go down then me and Karl are surely going to fail, but we don't know Mill's situation and you can escape. Now, I don't know your reason for wanting to enter the academy, but you can't just throw it away can you." Lua grunted. She wanted to say otherwise, but Darren was right. She did have a reason for wanting to enter the academy and she didn't want to lose this chance while she had it. She thought deeply to herself and walked toward the group of ogres.
"Wait, Lua! I told you to run!" Darren tried to follow Lua but was too weak and tripped. "Telling me to run? What about you two, what were you gonna do? Hold them off? Don't make me laugh." Lua sheathed her sword and continued to slowly walk towards yet another group of ogres. "What if you two going down costs me my chance of passing? I just won't take that risk." Darren and Karl looked at each other. What Lua said made sense, but what would she do by herself. Lua stopped walking and stared down the ogres.
"I'll let this monster out, just this once." Lua spoke under her breath waited as the group of ogres was now directly upon her. "Lua, what are you doing? At least draw your weapon!" Karl tried to call out but Lua didn't make a single move she just clenched her fist and placed it onto her chest. Suddenly, a dark aura started to illuminate from Lua and spread to her surroundings like a virus.
The ogres had finally arrived in front of Lua and tried to attack her when suddenly. "Thump" One of the ogres that was closest to Lua fell to the ground and like a strange wave. "Thump. Thump. Thump." All of the ogres started to fall as Lua started to walk into the group. Karl and Darren watched in awe and confusion. "I guess she didn't need her weapon after all." Karl said while the two boys watched the final ogres hit the ground. It was then that they saw Lua standing in front of one more opponent. It was an orc of some kind. Why an orc was with a group of ogres? Who can say? All that they knew was that Lua was currently staring down an ogre and she didn't even look a little bit scared.
"It's seems that you've mistaken me for easy prey, girl. If you can't tell I'm no ogre nor, am I an ordinary orc. I'm a kishin. Now die!" The kishin reached down to grab Lua when it watched its own hand begin to wither away. The kishin pulled his arm away but the spread didn't cease until it had eventually completely consumed him, and he became dust. Lua took a deep breath and her aura started to withdraw. "That was amazing, Lua" Karl and Darren walked over to Lua now that all of the monsters were gone. "How could you hide such an amazing ability from us?"
"It's not an abilty!" The two boys jumped as Lua suddenly snapped at them. "What?"
"I said it's not an ability!" Lua walked a few steps away and then stopped. "It's a curse, not an ability." With that Lua continued walking on without the boys. Darren and Karl stayed behind for a few seconds before making chase.
...
"This group of rookies is amazing." In the control room of the testing facility a group of instructors, including Sue and Fina, were watching two screens that were showing a specific groups maze. "I was surprised when they were surviving against all of those ogres for as long as they were even managing to take a few down, but I didn't expect for them to be able to beat them and get out of there." A male instructor said.
"What about the other one? Wasn't the person that he was fighting based off of Sir Lokk of the Ukon Empire from 500 years ago. We may have been a little bit off, but no amateur should have been able to even hurt him, let alone defeat. Fina who are these applicants." All of the instructors turned to Fina only to see the same amount of shock on her face.
"I have no idea. I sent them into the Max Dungeon to teach that boy a lesson. I didn't think there was anything special about them." All of the instructors started to look around at the many darkened screens around them that were once showing the other applicants that had dropped out or been kicked out of the simulation, then back to the screens that were showing Mill's group.
"Looks like we have something to look forward with these upcoming applicants." A man standing away from the group of instructors said to himself with a smirk.
"Especially that boy with the blue hair. I wonder what else he has to show us."
