บท 188: Date with Marin

[The Next Day]

"This will be the last photo for today." I said while looking at the nerd in front of me.

My voice was loud enough for the other people behind to hear and they hung their heads, dejected as they took their leave.

"Thank you very much boyfriend-san." The nerd did a 90* bow while thanking me loudly.

"Just get over there." I told him while I adjusted the camera in my hand. The nerd scurried away and went to Marin who was giggling at my annoyed response.

Yesterday, I went on a date with Komi so today was naturally Marin's turn. For our date, Marin did a cosplay and we went to an anime, Christmas-themed convention.

We have been here the whole day, looking around, and checking out other cosplayers but most importantly, we opened a business with Marin's cosplay.

We asked for money from whoever wanted to take Marin's picture. I was the photographer and we had been doing this almost the whole day, hence my annoyance when the sun was already about to set.

I'm fed up with taking pictures.

"Ready." I said while the nerd pushed down his hair and made his clothes before standing near Marin.

Marin just had her signature smile and gave a peace sign while I took the picture.

'But maybe it was not so bad. I get to watch her all day after all.' I thought to myself while looking at her cosplay.

She was wearing a blue wig and blue contact lenses with a blue uniform. If you couldn't guess from that already, she was cosplaying as the one and only Esdeath from Akame Ga Kill.

She wanted to cosplay as Esdeath since it's winter, Christmas with snow and all so she said it goes well with her ice powers.

Suffice it to say, she was stunning with her cosplay. She stood out from amongst the hundred of cosplayers.

Although she was not in character with that huge smile on her face.

"Um, ano. Can you step on me for the next picture? No-Not that I want you to step on me but to get into character..Yes that's it. To get in character." The nerdy guy asked with a stammer in his voice.

'Again?' I thought to myself while shaking my head. This has not been the first time someone has asked her to do that today.

"Sure." Marin said with a closed-eyed smile and put her feet on the guy who had already laid on the ground.

To add to that, she stopped smiling and looked at him in absolute disgust. The guy cried with a perverted smile on his face.

'Fucking down bad. I swear they have no dignity as a man.' I shook my head in exasperation while taking a photo.

"That would be an extra 800 yen." Marin asked nicely while pulling the guy up. He was happy and excited to pay the extra fee.

I sent the photos on his phone and after that, he scampered away with a satisfied smile on his face. He seemed happy at least.

"Can't believe that happened...again." I said to Marin as we watched the guy skip away happily.

She chuckled, "Well, he is happy and brave enough to be honest and follow through with his desires. I can't really find it in me to hate someone like that."

"You are just too nice."

"Maybe." She said, I kissed her.

We went to the bathroom where I waited outside the lady's stall and Marin changed her clothes inside. After ten minutes or so, she came out wearing casual clothes.

"I think I like you as yourself more than your cosplays." I commented. She wore a white oversized sweater and thin pantyhose. She also wore shorts, the size of a boxer but it didn't really matter since the panty house covered all her long legs.

To me, she did not need to dress up and cosplay different waifus. She IS the best waifu that came to life. My waifu.

Mine.

She blushed at my words before running up to me and hugging my arm. "Let's go."

We left the convention and walked toward the shopping center under the orange sun. It was still early though, it just got darker quicker in winter.

"Give me all the money you had on you." I asked her and she gave me the money she got from taking pictures.

It was around 100000 yen which was 752-ish dollars. I also took out the money I got and it was a little lesser, just about 70000 yen.

"Will it be enough?" She asked me while looking at it.

"I will add more from my own pocket, don't worry. I said and patted her head.

We went to the shopping mall and bought plenty of toys for kids and other gifts for adults too. We did not stop there and also bought boxes of chocolates and other candies for children.

The bags were quite many but with my dexterity and strength, it proved to be no problem.

We left the shopping mall and went towards our final destination today, an orphanage with the name "Kodomo-no-sono".

It had around 40 children and the staff living in the orphanage. It was a Christian institution and the children there were mostly disabled,  which is different from other orphanages.

The orphanage was a four-story building with a big compound for children to play with. It was also a place for studying, living, and playing for all the children living there.

We reached the orphanage and we pressed the gate bell. After a minute or so, the staff and the matron came down to greet me.

"Ahh, Fujita-san, It is very kind of you to visit us this year as well." The matron bowed to me while inspecting the many packages we brought.

She had a happy yet sorry smile on her face.

"But I don't see your mother anywhere." She asked again.

"Yeah well, she is quite busy with work this year. But my girlfriend here helped me though." I said and pointed towards Marin.

"Marin Kitagawa, she's my girlfriend." I introduced her and they greeted each other.

"Well, if that's out of the way, mind helping me with these?" I said while gesturing at the many things we had bought.

The staff and the matron herself helped us and we all went inside the orphanage. We were greeted by the children, many of whom I remembered from last year.

They also recognized me and came running, thanking me for visiting again and asking for Sumire. Marin was unsure of what to do at first but she soon felt comfortable when the children swarmed her and questioned her curiously.

Christmas was not celebrated too excessively here in Japan with 1 percent Christianity but it was different for this orphanage.

Therefore, I have come here every year with my mother to give presents and help the orphanage, Christmas was all about sharing after all and it was so much better than just giving money to donations.

You get to see the smiles you brought with your money and help and it was calming to the soul.

We played with the children for some time. They even asked me to show them Kung-fu moves as they had watched my fights as well.

The boys were very excited about that topic and I even taught them some things while the girls flocked to Marin more this time.

But after two hours, it was time to leave. The whole orphanage came to see us off and I also gave the matron money before I left besides just the gifts we bought them.

Marin and I leave as the kids wave at us, 'Onii chan visits us again soon', 'Onee san good bye.' and so on.

..

..

Now the sky was completely dark and it was night. Marin and I walked close together to seek each other's warmth in the cold.

"Today was fun." Marin suddenly blurted out, breaking the silence. " And fulfilling," she added.

She pulled my arm and brought me down before kissing me.

"Thank you." She said with a smile.
