บท 92: Fighting the Queen of Grimm
In the desolate ruins of what was once a vibrant city, a dark presence loomed.
Salem, the immortal enemy of mankind, stood amidst the crumbling buildings, her malevolent aura casting a shadow over the desolation.
Her eyes glowed with a cold determination as she surveyed the battlefield, her shadows still spreading even further beyond as whatever was touched was destroyed
"You know... I always wanted to fight you" Adam declared, his voice ringing out with conviction "In this world... You bring out my desire for battle"
Despite the ensuing destruction and the ever-expanding darkness around him, the silver-haired boy still managed to be casual about the situation, his lips curling upwards ever so slightly
While he felt doubt... It was undeniable that a part of him- a much hidden and darker path- was looking forward to this fight.
The once snuffed-out desire to combat an opponent has spurted out again, rekindling his battle lust
"I see..." Salem nodded, her face still expressionless "I'm also curious about your prowess"
"Then let's not waste any more time"
With a nod of his own, nothing further was said as he advanced, his footsteps echoing through the silent streets.
But the stillness was shattered as Salem's forces descended upon the silver-haired boy, a horde of Grimm surging forward from her shadow to meet him
"Petty tricks"
Adam sneered, his expression casual.
With a subtle twitch of his fingers, small orbs of destruction started coalescing all around him
Grimm approached, but before they could make any move to hurt him, the orbs moved. From floating beside him, the shapes of destruction were launched at the ensuing creatures of darkness
Tearing through the Grimm, the orbs killed one after another, ricocheting between the creatures as they went through those dark beings as if they were made out of paper
"Hoh?" His opponent smiled, an amused glint flashing in her eyes "Let's see how you will manage this...."
Trailing off ominously, Salem's expression went back to emotionless as the battlefield underwent a small change
"Hm...?"
The silver-haired boy frowned.
He wasn't worried, it was just that....
More and more Grimm were brought forth into the world from the white-haired woman's shadow.
Their numbers seemed endless as Adam ended up being surrounded
"Haaah...."
Realizing that his current plan wasn't going to work, he sighed, the orbs of destruction floating around him dissipating.
Crackle
Instead, his Aura burst forth with intense power, a shield of blue and gold emerging around his being.
However, different from normal...
This time, demonic power surged from within him, bringing out more of his power of destruction.
Destruction intertwined with Aura, cackling wildly with raw and chaotic power
"Now..." Adam looked deep into Salem's eyes, an intense staring contest proceeding "I am looking forward to how your Grimm deal with this"
"Humph"
She huffed lightly, rolling her scarlet eyes at his words. The powerful witch waved her hand, her Grimm that surrounded him aggressively attacking him
However, before the dark creatures could cross a certain distance-!
Shing
They disintegrated
Creatures, both small and large charged at him from all sides.
But it was to no avail. When the creatures came in contact with the cloak of destruction surrounding him, they turned to nothingness
In fact, from a closer perspective, Adam wasn't just overwhelming their number with pure force.
On the other hand, whenever a Grimm came in contact with the destruction wrapped around him, the silver-haired boy's Aura split off, traversing through the Grimm's body, and destroying it from the inside
It was like a virus infecting a body, destroying it as it infected and traveled further.

The surprise on her face disappeared as soon as it appeared. The white-haired witch didn't appear to be concerned about his power.
She didn't even make a move of her own, instead, she continued to rely on her Grimm for this fight
"...."
He rolled his eyes at her, not replying to her words
However, even if the fact that she wasn't concerned was quite worrying, he still joined the battle himself.
Instead of leaving the creatures to approach him and die, he tried something different
Adam condensed orbs of destruction in every one of his fingers. He raised his hands, spreading his palms open as he took aim, and-
Beams of pure destruction pierced through the air, killing the dark creatures as if they were mere chicken
The battle was as fierce as it was chaotic, the clash of destruction and the roar of Grimm filling the air.
Adam fought with unmatched precision and skill
The creatures that dared enter Adam's range were reduced to molecules from his Aura of destruction, while the ones that were too far were sniped by him with the beams of destruction
'What a waste....'
He thought wistfully, somewhat regretful of the fact that those couldn't be consumed in their entirety.
Vishnu's ability to devour everything does work on the magic energy that is expelled when these Grimm are killed, however, it isn't as efficient as eating them outright- with their bodies intact
"Then I should also fight seriously from now on"
The stalemate was broken with her words, as Salem was not content to sit back and watch.
With a wave of her hand, she unleashed torrents of dark energy, sending shockwaves rippling through the battlefield.
Her attacks were aimed at him, traveling through the air with impressive speeds
Tilting his head and twisting his body, Adam gracefully avoided her attacks, displaying a frightening flexibility
But as he turned his head and looked at his opponent-!
The silver-haired boy dodged once again, the torrents of dark energy following from behind him,
"Tsk"
Clicking his tongue, Adam kicked the ground hard, propelling himself away with much force.
However, Salem's attacks followed him, hot on his trail
"Troublesome"
Seeing her attacks, he muttered with a frown on his face.
This was his first battle against a truly skilled and powerful opponent that wasn't mindless, so he should have expected attacks such as this
The familiar Alpha Stigma blaring to life, the silver-haired boy turned to stare at the attacks rushing toward him, analyzing their underlying principles
Even though he is inexperienced when compared to Salem, he has a major advantage against magic users.
In fact, any magic used by his opponent will inevitably be copied by himself, and then used against the same person
And that is exactly why-
As they were about to touch him, Adam pierced the torrents of dark energy with silky white threads that emerged from his hands
His aim was oddly specific, his thread coated in a faint outline of destruction
Under Salem's surprised gaze, her black energy attacks...Shattered
They shattered to oblivion, dissipating into pure magic energy that propelled itself toward the silver-haired boy, giving way as he absorbed her magic attack without suffering any damage
"Thank you" He licked his lips "Your magical attacks are quite tasty"
'They are quite foul....'
That is what he wanted to say, however, the taste of her magic wasn't as bad as her Grimm, so he refrained from being too picky
Crackle
The atmosphere crackled, the white-haired woman once again sending abyssal energy attacks toward him
"...."
Salem looked at him with a nonchalant face, her eyes only briefly flickering with an unknown emotion
And so, the battle raged on, the witch's power was seemingly limitless.
She summoned forth new Grimm from the depths of her darkness, each one more terrifying than the last
The air crackled with magic as the two sides clashed in a titanic struggle. Destruction and darkness intertwined
