Before the apocalypse descended, Henry's family was quite well off. But of course, all of this came at a cost of his parents being continuously busy. So, Henry did not have a chance of spending much time together with his family, apart from night times after they had come from work.

But of course, that did not imply that every night they would be together. Otherwise, there was definitely no chance that Henry would be together with Adam in a place where they were allowed to go to a party where they were kidnapped.
