บท 41: Chapter Forty

"You seem tense."

I pointed, holding the reigns of the dragon as we flew, passing over the fields of greenery.

Ais looked back at me, clutching my thighs in a death grip.

"I'm not..."

I raised an eyebrow at her, not believing it at all, but remained silent, simply letting go of the reigns with one hand and wrapping it around her abdomen.

Her shoulders rose up, probably not expecting it, but she relaxed and loosened the hold on my thighs as we flew.

I looked to the side, watching the sunset absently as we followed Hermes and Artemis in front of us.

The sound of wind rushing past my ears and the flapping of the wings was the only thing reaching my ears.

Ais leaned onto my chest and I felt her hand trailing up my forearm before her fingers slid into the gaps between mine.

I looked at her, but she wasn't looking at me, she was looking at the sunset as the light illuminated her face.

I looked forward again as we flew in silence, and just as the sun would be fully setting in a few minutes, Hermes motioned us to land.

I nodded, tightening my hold on Ais for a moment as I pulled on the reigns. The small dragon reared its head up, doing a loop in the air before we headed to the ground.

It slowed down as we got closer to the dirt and landed with a few flaps of its wings.

Letting go of Ais, I jumped down, looking back up and offering a hand to her. She took it and jumped down from the saddle, landing on the ground and looking around the wooded area.

I levitated the baggage with élenchos, the tents unfolding and setting up with my will. Two tents, one for Artemis and Ais and one for me and Hermes, unfortunately.

I stretched my arms over my head as the bag of food floated down and rocks were arranged in a circle.

élenchos reached into the woods surrounding us, bringing sticks that would be used to set up a fire.

"Well isn't that convenient? You're magic is very useful, isn't it, Bell?"

Hermes smiled, moving to light up the fire. Activating Blaze, I just lit up the fire as Hermes blinked, the purple flames calmed down, turning back to normal.

"Oh..."

He muttered, before shrugging and standing up.

Ais yawned, rubbing his eye and I eyed her for a moment. She must have gone into the dungeon yesterday, then the festival, and then the whole situation with Artemis.

I didn't even know if she slept at all.

I reached into my pouch, pulling out bread that was still hot, since I added a preservation magic circle onto the pouch, and handed it to her.

She blinked at it, before taking it, breaking it in half, and handing the other half to me.

I felt the corner of my lips quirking up into a smile as I took the bread and pulled out apple jam, sitting in front of the fire and crossing my legs, I used élenchos to take off the lid and spread the jam over half of the bread Ais was holding, which was split open horizontally in half.

She smiled as she took a bite and hummed.

"Hey, don't we get any?"

I raised an eyebrow, letting the Jar of apple jam float as I broke my own bread in half and spread the Jam over it.

"Aren't you gods? Don't you not need to eat?"

Hermes deflated and I just pointed at the supplies that he brought. I didn't trust them at all, and since gods were immune to any kind of sickness, he could eat his own food.

I glanced at Ais, who was looking at the fire while munching on his food. I hummed sightly and reached over, casting a silent spell on my finger, making it colder than my usual body temperature.

I slid the finger down her back, and with her "Battledress" that left her back exposed, the sudden cold sent a shock to her system.

She shivered and looked over at me with a glare, her lip coming out in a pout.

I grinned as she brought her little fist down on my shoulder, not really using any force.

I chuckled, resisting the onslaught of her ferocious attacks.

"Sorry, sorry."

She huffed and turned her head to the side, so I offered my part of the food as a recompense.

She seemed less tense now, looks like her mind was off whatever was bothering her.

The fact that she was here meant that I wouldn't get to sleep in a sleeping bag, since we didn't bring a fourth one, and she didn't have the chance to bring her own.

Well, whatever, I didn't need much sleep anyway, and I could sleep anywhere comfortably.
