บท 14: Phantasmal Flow Dance
Lin was squirming on the ground as he tried to alleviate the pain. His eyes were bloodshot, veins visible on them. It felt like they could pop out of his skull at any moment. After struggling for some time, his screams began to die down and calm returned to his face. The injuries on his body began to disappear as the intensity of the Fire and Lightning increased tremendously. The strength of his body and bones increased as his muscles became more refined.
His eyes glowed in the moonlight that seeped into the cave. He was overflowing with power. He felt more powerful than he had expected. The conversion was complete and his body was now steadily absorbing the converted elemental energy from the cores and the universal element stone. His body returned to full strength in no time. The elemental powers dispersed as he stood up.

"-4?? Aren't I supposed to be -2 or something? Could the universal element stone have reduced my rank by two while the cores did so by one?" As he thought so, his face dropped into a frown. The result disappointed him a bit. He thought, "But that still feels like a waste. That universal element stone was big still, it only reduced my rank by 2. It is as useless as they say. If I had a box of that size filled with cores, I would probably have been at least a rank 30 by now."
"Ahh, what a waste. Anyway, forget it" he turned his attention to the figures of light that hung around him. They drifted towards one spot and merged to form the silhouette of a man. The figure was a foot taller than Lin and looked very muscular. It gave off the feeling of a great warrior and its presence was very intimidating. Lin could still feel the power coming from it. Though, it was just a silhouette.
It stood before Lin and seemed to be peering right into him. Lin felt a bit uncomfortable being gazed at in that manner but for some reason, he could not shift his gaze from the silhouette. He felt like he was being drawn into a trance he couldn't escape from. He soon felt something was wrong and tried to shift his gaze but couldn't. He was now becoming nervous as he couldn't even blink. "What is going on? I have to break free from this".
He calmed himself and focused on breaking his eye contact with the silhouette. He focused his mind and began forcefully trying to shut his eyes. His forehead was drenched in cold sweat as he tried desperately to free himself from the ensnarement. "Why does my mind feel a bit foggy? Is this about the mind and not my eyes? Well, that doesn't matter. If I can't break free with my eyes, I would do so with my mind. Strengthening my mind with the elemental powers shouldn't be too difficult"
Black flames erupted about his head as black lightning cackled about the flames. He pushed his power to the max and used it to soothe the power of his mind. Slowly the strength of his mind began to sour up. He felt the fog in his mind slowly fading off. Realizing it was working, he fired up his powers even more and, after a quarter of an hour, the fog in his mind cleared up. He staggered back and panted heavily. His torn clothes were soaked with sweat and it was getting quite uncomfortable.
He took off his top and allowed it to hang from his waist. He soon noticed that the figure had not disappeared rather, it seemed to have nodded to him in approval. It then turned around and began moving as though it were dancing. Every step it took made it look like it was there at a moment and then it wasn't. It looked like an illusion of sorts with every step it took. The entire cave glowed with footprints everywhere the figure stepped. The footmark did not disappear instead, they remained there as the figure continued to perform its illusory-like dance.
Looking at the footsteps and the performing figure, Lin was compelled to move along with him as the dance he witnessed was very beautiful. He felt like the figure was inviting him to dance as well. He moved towards the footsteps and began to step in them as he followed the figure in a dance pattern. The dance was surreal. It felt like he was moving in and out of realism as he seemed to appear and disappear. When he started, he didn't seem to be doing too well but gradually, as the dance continued, his body became attuned to it.
There were 50 steps in the dance. He continued to move in the dance cycle, following every step of the figure for almost two hours. After going through the last cycle, the footsteps disappeared and the figure dispersed.

"Drak? Like Drak 'The Battle Beast'?" He beamed with a smile. He was as surprised as he was happy but that was soon cut short as he immediately had a skull-splitting headache. He clutched his head and dropped to his knees. He gritted his teeth to fight back the pain but it was so unbearable he soon passed out due to the intense pain.
"Huff! Huff! Huff! Huff!" three guards were panting as they dragged themselves out of the stream. They were the ones that came after Lin. They leaned against the stone wall to rest and couldn't even bring themselves to talk to each other. Their clothes were torn in several places and they had bruises all over. It was as if they were in a battle. The space around them began to distort and a beast dropped before them.
They quickly scattered and began running from the beast "I didn't sign up for this" one guard complained. "We shouldn't have come here looking for that guy. How can we be this unlucky?" he continued with his complaint. "Complaining isn't going to help just shut up and keep running" the lead guard rebuked.
"We have been running for over two hours now. These beasts just keep dropping from out of nowhere and chasing us around. If I knew this place was that dangerous, I wouldn't have come here in the first place. Where are all these powerful beasts even coming from?" he continued to complain.
The beast blasted them with wind that threw them into the stream again.
