บท 30: Halloween Party
While Mike was ecstatic about his new skills, Mike received a call from Parker,
"Mike. I have to go.", Parker said on the phone.
"OK! If you need any help, I'm just one phone call away.", Mike said whilst looking solemn.
"Thanks, Mike, Goodbye.", Parker ended the call.
When Parker informed him of his departure, Mike couldn't help but feel a sense of disappointment.
It seemed that John was once again left without any friends, and the possibility of introducing him to the Frankenstein Science Gang seemed increasingly unlikely.
Mia noticed Mike's pensive state and asked him what was bothering him.
Mike replied, "Parker is gone."
Curious, Mia inquired, "Where did he go?"
Mike shrugged, uncertainty in his voice. "I'm not sure. Maybe he's onto his next target."
Mia pondered for a moment before asking, "By the way, do you know what Parker does?"
Mike speculated, "I suspect he's involved in some sort of robbery or heist, but he seems to have a code of honor. I guess you could call him a righteous bandit."
Perplexed, Mia sought clarification. "What exactly is a righteous bandit?"
Mike explained, "They are thieves who adhere to certain principles and maintain a sense of decency in their actions. Although they operate outside the law, they strive to uphold justice. After our last encounter, it seems they have become a thorn in the government's side."
Mia nodded, finding some parallels between Parker's situation and her own brother, understanding that sometimes people resort to illegal activities driven by circumstances and a sense of justice.
Later that evening, as the Halloween party approached, Mike contemplated his attire for the occasion.
He decided to go shopping for a costume, but looking at his well-built physique, he felt that choosing a specific outfit was unnecessary.
His muscles were his best asset, so he opted for a set of blue tights and a red, blue, and white shield with a five-pointed star in the center—a perfect Captain America ensemble to complement his physique.
'Why is this out so readily available?', he asked himself with a sense of foreboding.
'Let's just not think too much and just enjoy the party later.', Mike just chose to throw the strange situation at the back of his mind.
Mia, on the other hand, chose a Wonder Woman outfit that accentuated her long legs, catching attention at first glance.
The duo arrived at Sheldon's apartment, where they encountered a slight mishap.
Both Sheldon, dressed as the Flash, and Howard, also donning a similar lightning suit, unintentionally matched their costumes.
Realizing the clash, they decided to redress. Rajesh transformed into a Norse god, Howard became Robin Hood, and Sheldon assumed the role of Doppler.
Amidst the amusing sight of their group's eclectic costumes, Mike couldn't help but laugh.
Observing their own outfits, both he and Mia felt a tinge of embarrassment, realizing they stood out as the attractive couple among the eccentric characters present.
With the group finally ready, they headed to Penny's party together.
Sheldon, ever the stickler for schedules and plans, expressed concern about the absence of organized games.
Penny reassured him that the party would be enjoyable, even without structured activities.
As the evening progressed, the party came alive with guests arriving one after another.
Sheldon, disinterested in the lack of organized entertainment, sat on the sofa along with the rest of the group, restrained in their interactions.
Mike, with his charismatic appearance and athletic build, easily connected with the other partygoers, fitting into the American aesthetic standards.
Mia, with her wheat-colored complexion and exquisite facial features, also garnered attention, resonating with the mainstream American aesthetic.
Despite politely declining advances, Mia's gaze occasionally wandered toward the beauties surrounding Mike.
Amidst the fluctuating emotions of popularity and envy surrounding Mike, he couldn't help but feel disheartened.
He had become accustomed to being the one admired, but now he yearned to escape the superficial circle of those solely attracted to physical appearance.
While Mike's popularity continued to draw envious glances, it became evident that his appeal went beyond just physical strength.
However, this realization was overshadowed by the lack of genuine connections and the feeling of being misunderstood.
Amidst the crowd, an unexpected appearance disrupted the uneasy atmosphere.
Kurt, one of Penny's ex-boyfriends, made his entrance, exuding an intimidating aura.
'WTF SO I DID NOT TAKE KURT'S PLACE!', Mike exclaimed as he was shocked
'Phew, so that just means I'm just one of Penny's ex-boyfriends', je sighs in realization having a newfound clarity in this reality.
Seeing Kurt stirred up Leonard's emotions, given his history with Penny, and he mustered the courage to confront the imposing figure.
Mike, attentive to the unfolding tension, focused his attention on the situation.
Just as Kurt's frustration reached its boiling point, Mike swiftly intervened, gripping Kurt's hand firmly.
'What's up with Penny choosing all her boyfriends with short tempers', Mike asks himself with visible confusion, as the former inhabitant of this body also has a short fuse.
Kurt's face turned red, then blue, as Mike's strength became apparent.
"Let go!" Kurt exclaimed, his voice strained.
Mike, unwavering, responded sternly, "Fitness isn't meant for bullying. It's about strengthening oneself and protecting those around you." With that, he released Kurt's hand.
Kurt, still in shock from the encounter, quickly retreated, clutching his hand and realizing the stark difference in strength between them.
The onlookers dispersed gradually, the confrontation leaving a lasting impact on the atmosphere.
Meanwhile, Sheldon expressed his gratitude to Mike for preventing Kurt from harming Leonard, knowing that Leonard would have been at a significant disadvantage against Kurt's size.
Penny, feeling remorseful for the incident, apologized to Leonard, explaining, "I'm sorry! I had no idea he would become so aggressive."
"It's alright," Leonard comforted Penny, shifting his attention to provide solace.
With the situation defused Mike decided it was best to give Leonard and Penny some privacy.
He motioned for Sheldon and Mia to leave, leaving Leonard and Penny alone in the room.
As the night progressed and Penny became increasingly intoxicated, she impulsively kissed Leonard.
Ecstatic, Leonard, who had long desired this moment, couldn't contain his joy.
Penny, in her inebriated state, began to express her frustrations regarding Mike's apparent lack of consideration.
She mentioned their recent breakup and the hurtful words he had spoken, her emotions pouring out.
Leonard couldn't help but give Mike an internal thumbs up.
He recognized Mike's righteousness and selflessness, not only helping Leonard pursue Penny but also rejecting Penny's advances to create an opportunity for Leonard.
Despite the need to conceal his amusement, Leonard's lips involuntarily curled into a smile.
Leonard's internal monologue conveyed his gratitude towards Mike.
Without Mike's refusal, Leonard's chance to connect with Penny would have never materialized—a thought that filled Leonard with appreciation.
'This is all thanks to you, Mike,' Leonard thought to himself.
Mike turned to Sheldon and suggested, "Let's go out and have some fun. This is Leonard's chance."
Sheldon, acknowledging Mike's role in the situation, responded, "Alright! You've really come through this time. Keep up the good work, my boy. Your favorability rating has increased to -15."
Mike, giving Sheldon a disgusted look, considered Sheldon's favorability as a necessary evil, knowing that Sheldon's vengeful nature often led to pitiable situations.
Mia, reflecting on Mike's actions, expressed her sympathy for Penny. She glanced at Mike, her eyes filled with a mix of understanding and empathy.
Mike smiled indifferently, unaffected by the attention or opinions surrounding him.
Meanwhile, Howard had been searching for Rajesh, but with no success.
Sensing Howard's frustration, Mike suggested, "Why don't you go home and check? Maybe Rajesh returned."
As the night carried on, unbeknownst to the group, Rajesh had already found solace in the company of a beautiful woman, their evening unfolding in a different context.
