บท 39: Night of Chaos

As May was drawing near, the nights still held a hint of spring chill.

Li Chen noticed Wang Zhiyuan hunching his shoulders against the cold and kindly turned on the heater. The soothing music and the comfortable warmth were the perfect recipe for letting one's guard down.

Leaning back in his seat, Wang Zhiyuan felt a wave of drowsiness wash over him. But the presence of Li Chen, a man who still wore a gentle mask and whose intentions were unclear, forced him to stay alert. It was strange, he thought, that after all these years as a mob boss, he'd rather fall asleep in front of a cop, his natural enemy, than doze off next to one of his own kind. Perhaps deep down, he knew his own kind were more dangerous.

The car slowed to a stop.
