บท 108: Chapter 108

"Yasuke, transfer three thousand Shinōbi to the sea port to be prepared for Kirigakure's potential attack."

"Chiyo Elder, transfer three thousand Shinōbi to the border of Hi no Kuni to prevent any sneak attacks."

"Bunpuku, you can mobilize three thousand Shinōbi to the border of Tsuchi no Kuni to prevent any sneak attacks."

"Rasa, mobilize the remaining one thousand Shinōbi to enter the country of Ame no Kuni and protect our infrastructure there."

"Shamon-sama, deploy all the movable forts along the border and in the cities."

"Uzumaki Akisawa, Uzumaki Homura, as members of the Medic Corps, distribute the necessary medical supplies yourselves. Provide a report on the required ingredients, and once approved, collect them from the warehouse."

"Karura, lead the science and technology forces to guard Sunagakure and be prepared to support battlefields wherever needed."

"Ebizo Elder, you and I will be responsible for guarding Sunagakure and providing support whenever necessary."

"At the same time, inform the managers of the newly built towns in Kaze no Kuni to instruct their subordinates to exercise restraint."

"The remaining Clan Leaders and Jonin, focus on your own tasks. At this critical moment, I don't want to hear any reports of negligence."

In the meeting room of Sunagakure, Hitoshi issued a series of orders with a serious expression. The main battle army of fifteen thousand Shinōbi and the additional five thousand special forces of Sunagakure were swiftly assigned their missions and responsibilities.

"Everyone, remember that this war is a test for us. The past accomplishments, high status, and wealth are all on the line. If we can't overcome this test, we might as well prepare to eat sand," Hitoshi addressed the gathering, his words sincere and direct.

"At times like this, discussing the future of justice feels illusory. Let's face reality. Hold on to our past achievements, win this battle, and continue enjoying the good life we have now. If we fail, we might end up eating sand. The choice is yours," Hitoshi spoke roughly but effectively.

The individuals present in the conference room were the elite and upper echelons of Sunagakure. They had all lived lives of luxury, with abundant food, clothing, and entertainment. As the saying goes, it is easier to move from frugality to luxury than the other way around. They had grown accustomed to a good life and were not willing to give it up.

"From Uzu no Kuni to Sunagakure, what I desire is stability and a good life. I've only recently enjoyed a stable life, and I don't want to go back," Uzumaki Akisawa calmly stood up and expressed his sentiments.

"Haha, as an old man who has lived for several decades, I've witnessed the ever-changing world and heard many exciting words. But this time, it's the most exhilarating because I have finally experienced a good life. I refuse to eat sand. I am Kana Clan, and I will bet on the fate of our nation. We must win and overcome this challenge," an energetic elderly Shinōbi from Sunagakure spoke passionately.

"Likewise, I feel the same way. My son has just graduated, and my daughter was recently born. I haven't seen them get married or have children, so how can I allow anyone to destroy that?" another old Shinōbi from Sunagakure joked.

"Yes, Kazekage-sama, don't worry. We will definitely win this war," the voices of assurance echoed in the room.

"For our own lives."

"For our descendants."

"To enjoy a good life."

"To contribute to our cause, achieving high status and wealth."

One after another, the members of Sunagakure expressed their determination, each with their own reasons and motivations.

"Very well, everyone seems highly motivated. Let's go and make our preparations. Let's fulfill our duties, and we will not lose," Hitoshi expressed his satisfaction and concluded the meeting.

As for those who doubted whether the news of the impending war was true or false, there was no room for doubt. Konoha had already declared war on Ame no Kuni. Just before the meeting, when Hitoshi met Ebizo, the first thing Ebizo told him was that Konoha had declared war. The reason given was the snatching of Seven-Tails by Hanzo, which had disrupted the peace of the Shinōbi World.

When almost everyone had left, Shamon returned to the room.

"Teacher, do you have a moment?" Shamon asked, looking back.

"What's on your mind?" Hitoshi smiled and inquired.

"What are the chances of us getting involved in this war?" Shamon asked straightforwardly.

"What do you think?" Hitoshi replied.

"Who do you think?" Shamon retorted.

"What do you think?" Hitoshi questioned.

"Enough with this guessing game. I'll fortify the sea port with numerous gun emplacements," Shamon sighed and turned to leave.

"Thank you for your understanding," Hitoshi called out from behind.

Years of experience had taught Shamon that their adversary in this war would be Kirigakure. The incident in Uzu no Kuni served as a convenient excuse for Kirigakure to launch an attack on Sunagakure. The battleground was likely to be at sea. Nakuai, the main sea port of Sunagakure and Kaze no Kuni, served as a significant source of tax revenue and could not afford to be destroyed by war. Likewise, Kirigakure could quickly establish a foothold by targeting the sea port. It would not only disable Sunagakure and Kaze no Kuni but also bolster their own strength and provide a starting point for land expansion.

"The war is approaching, and it is both anticipated and unexpected. I wonder what those guys are up to. It's tiring, dealing with their machinations," Hitoshi reflected as he surveyed the empty meeting room. He carefully considered Sunagakure's cards while contemplating the presence of Uchiha Madara. Knowing that Uchiha Madara existed, he dared to start a war. Breaking through in strength was only part of the equation; there were likely other motives at play.

Meanwhile, outside of Sunagakure, an elderly white-haired man and a black-haired youth were engaged in a conversation with a masked individual displaying both Yin and Yang features.

"Madara-sama, everything is prepared. It's a pity that we have to initiate our plans," Black Zetsu gloomily remarked.

"Excellent. Let's go to Ame no Kuni now. It's time to set our first chess piece," Madara declared energetically.

Despite his old age, Madara's imposing presence remained. After venting the frustrations that had plagued him for many years, he appeared rejuvenated.

"Let's go. We're heading to Ame no Kuni," Madara said, casting a final glance at Sunagakure. He, Tobi, and Black White Zetsu set off on their journey. Madara's goals were clear—he needed to establish his strategy. He had grown tired of his old body. Though it appeared formidable, it held him back in many ways, preventing him from achieving true satisfaction. He needed to calculate his next moves carefully.
