บท 20: Steps into a new world

After the emotional moment between the siblings, Luke and Leila continued their journey to the Extreme Dojo.

The Extreme Dojo was quite a distance from their school, so Luke and Leila decided to take the bus to get there. As they sat together on the bus, Leila rested her head on Luke's shoulder.

Perhaps she was feeling tired, so Luke gently put his arm around her, giving her some comfort and support.

Leila smiled and closed her eyes; her brother's warmth made her feel safe, and she didn't want to leave his embrace. She wished she could stay like this forever, but they reached the Extreme Dojo and had to part ways.

"This place is enormous!"

Leila said in surprise when they arrived at the dojo.

The buildings in the lower district looked small next to the tall structure in front of them.

Around the dojo, there are modern homes built by the dojo for its members. These homes are designed to meet their daily needs and encourage a feeling of community.

The homes are stylish and modern, with simple lines, eco-friendly features, and a consistent look that shows order and practicality.

These modular homes are neatly arranged in straight rows, with green roofs and paths leading to the central dojo.

Leila looked at the beautiful houses, her eyes filled with amazement.

"Wow, Luke... can you imagine living in one of these? Just one room in these houses is probably bigger than our entire home." Her voice carried a mix of awe and disbelief.

She wasn't exaggerating—the housing conditions in the lower district were harsh, cramped, and far from comfortable.

Luke chuckled softly, patting her shoulder. "Yeah, it's something, isn't it? Makes you wonder what it's like to live without worrying about leaking roofs or broken walls."

Leila turned to her brother, her expression softening into something wistful. "Do you think we'll ever get out of the lower district, Luke? Live somewhere where we don't have to struggle every day?"

Luke's smile faded for a moment as he looked at her. He knew how hard things had been, but he wasn't one to give up hope.

"We will, Leila. Maybe not today or tomorrow, but one day. That's why we're here, isn't it? To change things."

Leila nodded, her resolve strengthening at his words. "You're right."

As they walked into the dojo, a woman sitting at a smooth, modern front desk glanced up from her tablet. She gave them a warm smile, her eyes kind and inviting.

"Welcome to Extreme Dojo," she said in a way that was both professional and friendly. "How can I assist you today?"

From Luke's viewpoint, the woman seemed to be in her late twenties, exuding confidence and professionalism. Her hair, a deep chestnut brown, was neatly tied into a low bun, and she wore a pair of black-framed glasses that sat perfectly on her nose.

Her face was delicate yet sharp, with intelligent, almond-shaped eyes that seemed to notice everything.

She wore a well-fitted uniform that accentuated her figure. The uniform was simple yet elegant, reflecting her composed attitude. Her posture was flawless, and her smile had a way of making people feel comfortable right away.

Leila, always quick to speak, stepped forward. "Hi! We're here for the warrior exam. My brother wanted to sign up."

The receptionist's smile widened slightly, and she leaned forward, clasping her hands on the desk.

"You've come to the right place. Extreme Dojo is known for transforming potential into greatness." She glanced at the siblings with interest.

The woman then took out a stack of papers and handed them to Luke. "Please fill these out and make sure that your phone number is correct."

Luke nodded and began filling out the forms diligently.

The form was simple—asking for basic information like name, family name, phone number, blood type, living location, and a few other personal details.

As Luke carefully filled in the form, Leila couldn't help but peek over his shoulder.

She watched him complete the form, her fingers nervously tapping on the edge of the counter.

When Luke finished, he handed the form back to the receptionist. She scanned it quickly, her sharp eyes glancing over the details before nodding in approval.

"Everything looks good," she said, sliding the form into a sleek tablet.

"You will get a message confirming your appointment date and time soon. Thank you for completing the form so thoroughly, and good luck."

Luke smiled gratefully at the receptionist before turning to Leila, who was still fidgeting with her fingers.

"What's wrong?" he asked, noticing her anxious demeanor. Leila hesitated before replying, "I just can't help but get nervous."

Luke reached out and gently squeezed Leila's hand, offering her a reassuring smile. "It's completely normal to feel nervous," he said softly.

"Aren't you nervous?"

"Of course I am," Luke admitted with a chuckle.

He couldn't deny that he was nervous, because from today, he was starting a new journey, one that he had only read about in novels.

'But this time, my life is at stake,' he thought, feeling both excited and anxious.

"Don't worry; everything will be okay. Watch me pass this test and become an official warrior. Then you and Mom won't have to worry anymore. You can go to college without any stress and wear the nicest clothes. Mom can quit her job and finally take it easy," Luke said confidently.

A great sense of determination filled him as he thought about the sacrifices his family had made for him, in particular his mother.

He understood that he needed to succeed because this was his first step to go back to Earth and his family.

'I wonder how they're doing? I've been here for 18 years; how much has changed back home?'

[Approximately 66 days on planet Earth have passed, host.] The system suddenly spoke.

'That's it? I've been busting my butt for eighteen years here, and back on Earth, they've barely finished a Ne*flix series?!'

Leila, noticing Luke's sudden change in expression, raised an eyebrow. "What's with the face?"

"Oh… Nothing, I just remembered something. Come on, let's go. How about I prepare something for us to eat?" suggested Luke.

"Sure!" A smile spread across Leila's face as both duos left the Extreme Dojo.
