บท 178: A living nightmare

Fengming dismounted the horse and made his way indoors. Upon entering the house, he sought out his mother's quarters to check if she was already asleep, but she was not. Instead, she awaited Jin Liang's return.

It pained Fengming deeply to witness his father indulging in the night's revelry with an entertainer from the inn, seemingly oblivious to the years of care and support his wife had dedicated to their family and to fulfilling his needs.

Unable to face his mother in his current state of despair, Fengming refrained from entering her room. Instead, he retraced his steps and proceeded to his father's chamber, carrying a small jar of alcohol he had fetched from the cellar.
